Back on December 10th, this little girl came to us at only six months old — hurting, scared, and carrying the pain of an embedded collar around her tiny neck. Today, she’s turning ONE YEAR OLD surrounded by love, toys, cuddles, and a family who treats her like the princess she was always meant to be 👑🐾❤️

Getting messages like this means more than words can explain. Rescue is exhausting sometimes, emotionally and physically, but moments like these make every hard day worth it. Seeing a once-forgotten dog safe, adored, healthy, and thriving in her forever home is the kind of happy ending we pray for. 🥹

Her adopter sent us these birthday pictures and the sweetest message letting us know she is “very well loved” and will “always be taken excellent care of.” That reassurance means the world. ❤️

Happy 1st Birthday sweet Anabel 🎂🐶 You are so loved.

Bluey saw one freshly rinsed pool and said, “Perfect… just missing mud.” 🐷💦🤦‍♀️

Never mind the giant wallow she already has. Apparently the clean pool was the real luxury spa today. She marched her muddy self right through it, attempted to lay down like a queen, and turned my crystal-clear water into swamp chic in about 3.5 seconds. 😅🫠

Honestly though… watching these big pigs live their happiest muddy little lives makes the extra scrubbing worth it. 🐽🩵

Sometimes during my work travels, God places little reminders in my path that life is fragile, precious, and worth slowing down for. 🐢🤎🌿☀️

This sweet girl was trying to make her way across the road, and for just a few minutes the world stopped while I helped her get somewhere safer. 🚗💨➡️🐢🌾

No cameras, no big rescue story… just one small life that mattered. 🤍

That’s really what Salt & Light Pig Asylum is about at its core. 🐷🐾✨ Compassion doesn’t have to be loud to matter. Sometimes it looks like pulling over, being gentle, and remembering that every living thing is trying to make it home safely too. 🌎🌱🫶

The world feels heavy sometimes, but moments like this still soften my heart. 🥹💛

It’s not always pretty… muddy faces 🐖, torn up ground 🌱, feed bills 💸, long days ☀️…

But then you step back and see this—
pigs grazing 🌿, relaxed, safe, just being pigs… 🤍

And you remember why you do it.

They don’t need perfect.
They just need safe, fed, and loved. 🐾

And that’s what we’re giving them every single day.

Today’s a good day to slow down, step outside, and appreciate the world around you—

UPDATE on Miss Syra!
Skin scraping came back clean. She got an antibiotic injection and scheduled for a skin biopsy and removal of a small growth on her eyelid.

Off to the veterinary clinic for a skin assessment! Loading wasn’t as smooth as we expected but we are on our way!!
