Cricket with her new owner Christie Alexander! I met them out today to watch her ride. They’re getting along so well. Cricket ended up in the perfect home, and it’s so obvious how loved she already is.

Letting horses go is always so bitter sweet, but I’m so happy to see them go to homes where they will be loved and well taken care of! Thank you Christie for loving this horse as much as me!

Better late then never! Here is our trail pattern.

I knew this gate was going to be a little bit of an issue. When we went to close it instead of my little arms trying to steer and reach for the gate, I figured I’d let cricket close it for me! She pushed her chest into it and helped me out. I knew I’d get points deducted, but thought it was cute!

The banner at the end of the arena was the toughest obstacle there was 😂 She wanted no part of it.

For the bridge, just like Cricket would, she had to test it out a little bit. I love the way she thinks through things! As soon as she realizes it’s safe, it’s not an issue any more.

I had so much fun going through this course. This horse is so honest, and tries so hard!

The weekend is over! What a whirlwind. Cricket was incredible and I couldn’t be more proud. We placed 7th overall in a class filled with incredibly talented trainers. Some how we ended up 2nd in showmanship, even though I was sure I bombed the class after a fashion faux pas!

Cricket was adopted by the perfect person! They had come to look at Cricket prior to the competition and I felt like it had been the perfect fit. They are giving me the opportunity to travel to them to continue to work with her after competition. There was many tears shed when I realized they won her in the auction.

I’m so thankful for Teens And Oregon Mustangs for this wonderful opportunity to work with these incredible animals. I’m also thankful for the other competitors and friends we make along the way.

Cricket did so well at the trail course. She was a little nervous at the beginning. But after settling in, she did everything I asked. This horse is a big thinker.

Cricket and I made it out to Perrydale Trails today and she was an absolute rockstar. She went through everything and more! A HUGE thank you to Steve and Marie Rauta for hauling us out! More videos coming soon!

Sweet Cricket had her first dental on Tuesday! She was so brave. The dentist pulled 2 wold teeth, and got everything else looking and feeling good! I think she was feeling pretty good herself after it was all done 😂

He did find that she has a Diastema, which is a gap in her lower molars. Which isn’t a huge issue, and with regular dental care it won’t cause problems.

Cricket and I had a great ride the other day! She’s blowing my mind with how quickly she’s starting to put things together. I didn’t think I’d be able to shake a tarp on her back like this a month ago. She’s always excited to work, and is becoming more friendly with strangers!

Here’s Cricket showing off picking up her feet! You can even see her picking them up for me as I go around. This mare is so cool, and once she trusts you will try anything for you! Cricket can be particular, and will really need to establish a good connection with someone. I can’t wait to watch her grow!

Oh my goodness this before and after! May 8th to July 29th!

I’ve been horrible at posting, as I’m generally forgetting to record our sessions. I’ll be spending this week really trying to record our progress.

Riding Cricket has been a dream! When I started her in a bit you could tell she was uncomfortable. I switched to a hackamore and saw Instant results. Here is us working on her jog. She’s getting really good with her stops. I love this mare!

She has so much try and is so responsive. I can’t wait to see what she’s like at the end of this competition!

Cricket is the kind of horse that needs a person. If you’d like to meet her please send me a message!
