We at Animal Medical Service, like other Veterinary clinics across the country, have been struggling to balance the safety of our staff, our doctors and our clients, with the fulfillment of our obligation to maintain animal care for your pets. Until Washington State or Federal Authorities dictate otherwise, we will continue to provide services within Yakima and its surrounding communities.
Under advisement from the WSVMA (Washington State Medical Association), the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association}, and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), we are instituting more changes to help slow the spread of COVI-19 and to help limit exposure within our facility.
Social distancing appears to be extremely important in limiting the spread of this disease.
With that being said, Effective Monday March 23, 2020, we will be starting to limit or eliminate the number of "Elective" procedures that we do in a given day. These are procedures that can be effectively postponed for a period of time without harm to your pet. If you currently have a scheduled appointment that we need to postpone, we will be in contact with you. Although it may be a little inconvenient, this postponement limits our daily interactions to help those animals that are sick and need immediate care during this period of uncertainty. Rest assured, we will reschedule you as soon as possible.
We will be initiating a "locked door" policy to limit public interaction within our facility. We are still open and available for the pickup of pet foods and medication and are certainly available for telephone consultations. For veterinary services or medication/food, when you arrive at the office, we ask that you wait in your car and call our front desk. We have multiple lines into the office, but there are times you may get a busy signal. Numbers for the office are 509-965-2154, 509-965-4778, 509-965-0155.
If we are seeing your pet due to illness or a surgical dropoff, after your call to our front desk, one of our technicians or assistants will meet you at your car and es**rt your pet inside. We ask that you please remove leashes or collars if possible, as it allows us to use one of our slip leads. If we elect to have you step into the office with your pet, we will es**rt you directly back to one of the exam rooms. Payments will be made by credit card, preferably called in over a phone. We would prefer no cash at this time.
As always, we appreciate your business and your support. Please hang with us while we transition to this new way of doing business. Hopefully it doesnt last too long. Our whole goal is to keep you, our clients, and our staff healthy, all while providing the needed care for your animals. Lets all stay safe. It's a crazy world out there.
