We are thrilled about this new step for the Goldendoodle community!
Health and transparency have always been a top priority, and having access to breed-specific data through OFA is a huge breakthrough. Until now, Goldendoodles were grouped with all hybrids, making it hard to track breed-specific health trends. This data will help breeders make informed decisions and provide valuable guidance for pet owners.
We’re proud to be a GANA breeder and a part of an organization that raise the standard of care and knowledge for our beloved breed!
Exciting news about GANA’s relationship with OFA!
After much effort from the board and other volunteers, the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals have agreed to separate GANA Goldendoodles (only Goldendoodles registered within the Goldendoodle Association of North America) from Hybrids. This is an exciting step for GANA to obtain data on Goldendoodle health. This will help the GANA Board & Membership make proper requirements for testing along with education for the future of Goldendoodles.
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals has agreed to do a one time large data change, where they will take all registered dogs and change their registration within OFA’s database to reflect Goldendoodle & GANA registration # instead of Hybrid. This will take time and effort and we need the cooperation of our membership to meticulously collect data, but it is a necessary step in order to make informed decisions on the health of the Goldendoodle.
We thank all volunteers and officials (from GANA & OFA) who have worked so hard to make this happen. This has been a long standing goal of the association, years and years, and to be alive in a time to see it come to life is truly an honor for the association, its members, and the breed.
