Happy Sunday from Summatime Walkies. ❤️🐾
This post is a little harder for me to write.
I started Summatime Walkies at the beginning of this year, and now, eight months later, I’m realizing there was one part of this business I never really prepared myself for… losing one of the babies I’ve grown to love as my own.
The Grimes family was one of my very first clients. From the beginning, I fell in love with their two big, beautiful babies, Red and Clover. I’ve spent so much time with them, cared for them, laughed at their craziness, soaked up their cuddles, and formed a bond with them that goes far beyond just being their pet sitter.
I have them this weekend, but this time our sweet old man Red isn’t here. 💔
Walking into the house and hearing it so quiet just doesn’t feel right. There aren’t two big crazy dogs waiting for all my love and attention. It’s just my sweet Clover, and you can tell she knows her brother is missing too. Seeing her sad has made this weekend even harder.
I never thought about this part when I started my business. I never imagined just how attached I would become to every animal that comes into my life. But Summatime Walkies has never felt like “just a business.” These babies become family. Every single one leaves their own little mark on my heart.
My heart truly breaks for the Grimes family and for sweet Clover. And selfishly, my heart hurts too.
I’m going to miss my sweet Red so much. His cuddles, his personality, that stubborn old-man attitude, and just seeing that big boy waiting for me. 🥺❤️
Rest easy, sweet Red. 🌈🐾 You were so very loved, and I feel incredibly lucky that I got to be a small part of your life.
You will always be part of the Summatime Walkies family. ❤️
