Happy Independence Day!

We know Fourth of July can be a great time for dogs, but the noise can be a little scary sometimes. We found these effective strategies to help dogs cope with sounds such as fireworks:

1. Safe Space: Create a designated quiet area where your dog can retreat during loud events. Make it comfortable with their bed, favorite toys, and blankets. Turning on the TV in the same room can also help mask the sound, often dogs like nature channels!

2. Desensitization: Gradually expose your dog to recorded sounds of fireworks at a low volume, increasing the volume slowly over time, so they become accustomed to the noise without fear.

3. Calming Aids: Use calming products like anxiety wraps (e.g., Thundershirt), calming collars, or pheromone diffusers that can help reduce anxiety.

4. Distractions: Keep your dog occupied with engaging toys, puzzle feeders, or treats to divert their attention from the noise.

5. Stay Calm: Dogs can sense their owners' emotions. Stay calm and relaxed to help your dog feel more secure.

6. Exercise Prior: Take your dog for a long walk or play session before the noise starts to help expend excess energy and reduce anxiety.

7. Keep identification securely on your dog, in case of a runaway, that they can be returned.

By implementing these strategies, you can help your dog feel more secure and less anxious during loud events.

She is taking an online course and we are looking for some dogs that are willing to let her groom them in a short all over body length and round head.
