Troubadour is a 6-year-old bay gelding that loves to go see the countryside.

He is a comfortable size and has a great pace when walking out on the trail! We have used him from the sagebrush pastures on the ranch, to the rugged Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.

Troubadour has been enjoyable to do cattle work on and he has taken everything in stride! His handle is correct and safe in the arena, although he prefers to be outside on the ranch or trail.

Troubadour is great to be around and truly enjoys the companionship of his rider. When thinking of how to describe him, he is simply steady!

Faith in Horsemanship & Our Daily Lives

“Today I found myself expanding my thoughts and pondering the character trait of faith. You know the Bible tells us in Hebrews chapter 11, that faith is a substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥! First of all, without faith in God it would be impossible for me to do most of what I do. We need faith in our family, faith in our friends, faith in our horses even. 𝐈𝐟 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞. So, when I do anything with him, I trust him. When I step up on his back, I have faith that I am going to come home tonight and that I am going to have a great ride. What is faith? Well think of it like this, when you flip the light switch, what do you expect to have happen? You expect the light to come on. You flip the light switch in faith, knowing that it is going to come on….. you pick up the reins in faith, knowing your horse is going to stop. You ask him to back up in faith, knowing that he is going to back up. He has to have faith too; he has to have faith in you. For him to have faith in you, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥. You actually have to be dependable and consistent for him. When I think about faith, I honestly think it is one of the 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 in all of our lives.“
