✨ Staff Highlight ✨

Introducing Brianna, one of our Pet Attendants! From a young age, Brianna always dreamed of working in veterinary medicine. Her love for animals and the comfort she finds in being around them made joining our team an easy decision. As one of our Pet Attendants, she enjoys spending her days caring for patients and working alongside others who share her passion for animal care.

Brianna is currently attending school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician, and she’s already gaining valuable hands-on experience here at the clinic. One of her favorite memories so far has been assisting during an appointment as a translator—an opportunity that gave her a glimpse into her future role and reminded her how meaningful communication can be for clients and their pets.

Of course, there’s never a dull moment in her day! Brianna recalls a funny experience when she climbed into a tub to help a nervous dog during bath time. As soon as the dog felt brave enough to jump out, it bolted—sending Brianna straight to her knees which left her fellow coworkers laughing!

We’re so lucky to have Brianna on our team. Her positivity, dedication, and compassion shine through in everything she does, and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow in her veterinary career.

For those who guessed on our last post, the correct answer was tooth #3!

Focal bone loss from infection happens when bacteria eat away at the bone around a tooth, leaving behind a raw, cratered pocket filled with inflamed tissue and pus. The area often smells foul and oozes, as the body struggles to clean out the decaying debris from what used to be solid bone. This is why dental X-rays are so important during dental procedures—teeth can be very misleading. What looks healthy on the surface can actually hide significant infection and bone loss beneath the gumline.

Meet Buck! 🐾 This sweet and handsome guy has completely stolen our hearts. While you’re here admiring him, let’s tackle another common question pet owners ask…

🦷 How do I keep my pet’s teeth clean? 🦷

Just like us, pets need regular dental care to prevent plaque, gum disease, and painful dental problems. In fact, most dogs and cats show signs of dental disease by the age of 3—so early care makes a big difference!

✔️ Brushing: Daily brushing with a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste is the gold standard for keeping teeth clean. Even a few times a week helps!
✔️ Chews & Toys: Dental chews and certain toys are designed to help reduce plaque buildup while giving your pet something fun to chew on.
✔️ Professional Dental Checkups: Annual dental exams (and cleanings when needed) allow us to check below the gumline, where brushing can’t reach.

A healthy mouth means fresher breath, less pain, and a healthier, happier pet overall. Dental health is closely linked to heart, kidney, and liver health too!

📅 Call us today to schedule your pet’s next dental checkup.

Meet Walton! We’re pretty sure he’ll steal your heart just like he stole ours. While you’re swooning over him, we’re also here to help answer one of the most common questions pet owners ask…

🐾 How often should my pet come in for checkups? 🐾

Just like people, pets need routine healthcare to stay happy and healthy! Regular visits help us track growth, prevent illness, and detect issues before they become serious.

✔️ Puppies & Kittens: every 3–4 weeks until they’re fully vaccinated. These visits also help with early parasite prevention and setting your pet up for a healthy start.
✔️ Adult Pets: at least once a year for a wellness exam, vaccines, and preventive care. Annual bloodwork is also recommended to catch hidden health concerns early.
✔️ Senior Pets (7+ years): every 6 months. Health can change quickly as pets age, and more frequent checkups help us manage arthritis, dental disease, or organ changes before they cause discomfort.

Routine care is one of the best ways to give your furry friend a longer, healthier, and happier life. 🐶🐱

Health officials have confirmed a rabid bat in the area and are urging caution.

Even if your pet is strictly indoors, rabies vaccination is essential. 🐶🐱 Bats and other wildlife can occasionally make their way inside homes, and rabies is always fatal once symptoms appear.

✅ Protect your pet.
✅ Protect your family.
✅ Stay up to date on rabies vaccinations.

If you’re unsure of your pet’s rabies vaccine status, give us a call—we’re here to help keep your loved ones safe. ❤️

Kent County Health Department leaders on Thursday, Sept. 18 said the public should be cautious around bats that enter homes.

We had some of the sweetest patients in surgery today!
Ms. Lola, our brave golden girl, came in for a mass removal with Dr. Dykhouse. And little Ms. Annie stole everyone’s hearts as she had 25 teeth removed with Dr. Josh!

Both girls are resting comfortably and already on the road to recovery. ❤️
