This is Amelia Dyer. A western hognose that came in with a small group this past month. She produced eggs this year on her own, a little earlier than she was ready for. She passed 4, but the last one is caught. We arent sure exactly why yet. But she is in great hands with Dr Baker at Paw Paw Veterinary Clinic. They squeezed her in yesterday when it was apparent the egg wasnt going to pass on its own. She was sent home on medication to try to help. They checked on her before we could send the update, and she went back in today to monitor and see if surgery will be required.
I can not say enough good things about our experience there. There is, so often, a disconnect in animal care for reptiles. And while there are several vets we use and recommend locally, I am grateful we could get her in to Dr Baker for this! The entire team has treated her with compassion, and even stopped to admire her. They make it easy to trust her staying there for a few days to watch.
