McMillen Road Project Update – Part 10
"Lecture, Don’t Listen"

First, THANK YOU for the incredible support since last week’s Wylie City Council meeting.

The City unanimously voted (7-0) to amend the budget, allocating an additional +$196,000 to cover fines, remedial staff training, and make “donations.”

But here’s the kicker: Despite repeated requests, we’ve heard nothing from City leadership. Zero communication.

Take a moment to watch this clip from the meeting. You’ll hear a heartfelt message from one of our neighbors passionately addressing concerns about the McMillen Road Project.
Her words were met with 10 seconds of applause from the audience—swiftly silenced by a stern reminder from Mayor Porter to "stay orderly."

As we near the 400-day mark since the project shut down (March 20, 2024 – today), it’s unbelievable that the east approach has been approved by the Army Corps since NOVEMBER 24—with no visible progress.

We’ll keep fighting to bring attention to this. This community deserves better. Stay tuned, and thank you for standing with us!

Part 7 McMillen Road Project - Broken Federal Law: Now We All Pay.
As shared in previous posts the Wylie, TX City Hall started construction on McMillen Road without proper federal permitting.
So as expected, The Army Corps of Engineers shut the project down in March 2024.
We now know that during the Corps subsequent investigation it was discover that this failure resulted in damage to a Native American archaeological site.
In public documents coming to light, the City must amend it's budget and now spend over $196,295 in taxpayer money on the following:
Archeology education kits for schools (68,292.00)
Wylie staff training on how NOT to break federal law ($52,590.00)
And "donations" (ie fines) to archeology societies ($75,082.73)
Unfortunately for Wylie residents, this is probably just the tip of the cost ice berg.
How much did it cost to negotiate this settlement with "Mitigation" consultants, attorneys and investigators? What other "costs" have been incurred by this mess?
Are more budget adjustments to come?
We know the EXACT cost to our business over the last 12+ months and still will likely not have an open McMillen Road for 1-2 MORE years. How can any business survive this?
Wylie deserves better.
Please come share your voice of concern at the next Wylie, TX City Hall Council meeting, April 8th.
Our family will be there to speak once again - at least we are now on the agenda!
Thank you all for your continued support.

Part 6 McMillen Rd Project - Don’t Be Misled—Get the Full Story
The city is claiming victory in a lawsuit, but here’s what they aren’t telling you: They didn’t win on the facts of the case. They won a plea of jurisdiction, which means the court never even heard the case. And granted the City Immunity. (see attached)
And here’s the real kicker—every step the city is NOW talking about should have been done Before the project ever started. Had they followed the proper process and obtained their 404 permit like they were supposed to, we wouldn’t be stuck with a road that’s been closed for over a year, unusable by anyone and our business would not have suffered to this degree.
Now is the time to hold the city accountable! When our local government causes harm—whether to citizens or businesses—they should take responsibility, not hide behind legal loopholes. We deserve transparency, fairness, and a city that does right when it’s wrong. Isn't that the Wylie Way?
Speak up. Demand accountability. Let’s make sure our city works for ALL of us—not just itself.

We will plan to speak at the April 8th meeting since the road will be on the agenda but need community support there as well.

Part 5 McMillen Rd Project Rules for thee not for me.
When discussing the city charter and ordinances Mr. Brent Parker states:
“The guiding document we use, then the city passes ordnances and those ordnances are again our guiding documents.. it’s more of a law, that for a lack of a better term is like state legislation …it’s our local law that we follow. “
Yet by voting 6 to 0 to close down McMillen Rd against the contractors recommendation Wylie leadership broke it’s own law.
The expanded McMillen Road by law should have been built with the original road left open. Instead, thousands of people have been seriously inconvenienced for what will now take yearsto complete. Incurring fines and penalties, while Trinity Valley Ranch, the only business on McMillen Road suffers.
Would any of the City Council members like Gino Mulliqi or City Manager Brent Parker who also own and operate businesses in Wylie be willing to move their operations to the dead end of McMillen Road where GPS will not guide their customers to their establishment ? Doubt it…
Again, The City has BROKEN its own Laws while citizens are expected to follow them. Please share and repost only by raising awareness of this negligence will change come.

Join us April 8th at the city council meeting !

Part 4 McMillen Road Negligence – In Their Own Words
“Don’t believe everything you read on Facebook…” Mr. Brent Parker
That’s so ironic coming from the man whose Facebook updates until now have been half-truths to the public at best!
But now, after months of dodging responsibility for the McMillan Road delay, momentum and awareness are starting to shift because people are paying attention.
Today’s post provides proof straight from the top regarding the REAL reason for closure albeit almost a year later and only after mounting pressure to come clean.
In this recent Live Love Wylie podcast, the City Manager not only downplays responsibility but also admits to the very mistakes that have cost taxpayers an UNKNOWN amount and delayed the project for 12+ months.
What’s worse, it appears these mistakes have been made before. Go back and listen to the entire episode if you can stomach it!
We pulled this abbreviated clip so you can decide for yourself if what we’ve been saying all along is true - mismanagement, poor planning, negligence and half-truths to the public led us here.
How will the Mayor and City Council respond to Wylie citizens, the taxpayers, and to TVR whose business continues to suffer? No more excuses, please. The Mayor and City Council can still respond to our request they received months ago. It’s never too late to do right.

Part Three – McMillen Road Project: City Hall is Silent
A few people are asking, why Facebook? Aren’t there more appropriate channels to express concerns?
Answer: Yes there are and yes we have. After taking our concerns to the city council last fall numerous times, “through proper channels”, we’ve only been met with silence. No responses, no feedback.
Watch this short video clip of one of the times we spoke at the city council meeting and yes we sent email follow ups requesting and audience.

We will be speaking again on April 8th we could really use the support.

Part Two - McMillen Road Project: Retaliation & Intimidation
First, it’s been encouraging to see the engagement and support over the last two posts, especially the great questions being asked.
Some are curious about WHY we’re posting and WHAT can be done?
It’s simple: We want the city to DO RIGHT and we have gone through all the channels possible but the City ignores us.
We HAVE addressed City council numerous times… .
As someone on the last post rightly commented, of course they welcome the legal route because they have mastered the art of using tax payer dollars to stall the legal process, create hurdles and bleed any opposition, like our small business dry.
Yes Cities have a lot of immunity and that bar should be high, but Wylie leadership arrogantly takes advantage of that immunity abusing this power when just doing right and acknowledging mistakes would be much easier and more respectable.
After several months past from our private meeting with the City in February 2024, we felt we had no other option but to formally file suit for damages that summer.
During the NIGHT of July 19th the City’s leadership authorized installation of a surveillance camera ON OUR PROPERTY directly monitoring our PERSONAL DRIVEWAY.
Pictured below.
We had to have an attorney send a demand letter to move the camera and the second photo shows you where they moved it – 2 ft over into their easement, still watching our driveway.
Is This the Wylie Way?? Is this the character of our elected City leaders?
We refuse to be intimidated, continuing to speak up to City, County and even Federal representatives.
We demand the Mayor and Council take responsibility and do what is right - stop burdening our business and Wylie residents with their mistakes.
More To Come….

We need people to show up on April 8th for the city council meeting. We need to support of the citizens to help push for change.

Part 1: The City of Wylie’s McMillen Road Disaster – A Story of Negligence and Cover Up
For over a year (367 days), our business, like many of you, has suffered due to the McMillen Road closure, a project stalled by the City of Wylie’s own missteps by failing to secure proper 404 permitting.
From the beginning, we voiced our concerns including GPS re-routing and construction vehicles limiting customer access since our business is located on the road. Pictures below.
But when we took these concerns to the city’s leadership in private, the City Manager dismissed us, saying we sounded like “ambulance chasers” and that if we wanted results, we’d have to sue them.
The truth? As we've stated in public City Council meetings, the City of Wylie broke its own ordinance (pictured below) by completely shutting down McMillen Road against the recommendation of the construction company—not because it was necessary, but to cut corners, "save time, and reduce costs".
The irony? This reckless decision, along with lack of proper 404 permitting has led to overspending, penalties, fines and months of delays—all on the backs of the citizens of Wylie and our business.
This is just Part 1 of our story. We refuse to stay silent anymore and will continue to speak up about the need to hold the City of Wylie accountable for their incompetence and cover up on this project.

Please Join us for the City Council Meeting this coming Tuesday April 8th we need your support.

March 20th marked 1 Year since the McMillen Rd project in Wylie came to a standstill - All because the City of Wylie failed to get 404 permitting before starting the project. An entire year of delays, tax payer money wasted, half truths and false narratives by our city officials. Citizens of Wylie losing access to a major roadway they rely on. How does something this critical get overlooked? And more importantly when will it be fixed.
Wylie deserves accountability and transparency. It's us time for real answers and real action.

Join us April 8th at the city council meeting where this will be on the agenda. PLEASE SHARE
