🌟 Monday Introduction — Austin Trawick 🌟

Back by popular demand… or at least because he’s too important not to introduce twice. 😎

Meet Austin — owner, founder, and lead trainer behind Spangler Creek Farm & Kennels.

If there’s a dog being worked, birds being planted, a horse being saddled, or a trailer rolling out before daylight, chances are Austin is right in the middle of it. He trains pointing breeds for both field trial competition and as strong hunting companions, putting countless hours into developing dogs with drive, style, and natural ability.

From starting young prospects to putting finished dogs on the ground, Austin has built Spangler Creek around a deep respect for good bloodlines, hard work, and preserving the traditions that come with bird dogs and the outdoors.

This isn’t just a hobby for him — it’s a way of life.

Outside of training and traveling the field trial circuit, he’s also Dad to Boss Man Charlie… which may honestly be his toughest role yet. 😂

The Toby x Salt crew graduated to their first little taste of bird exposure this week… and let’s just say the pigeon had everyone’s full attention. 👀🪶🔥

Bandit, Boss, Max, Blaze, Red, Seeker, Gossip, Covey, Legend, and Scout all got some time exploring new sights, smells, sounds, and feathers as part of early socialization here at Spangler Creek.

At this age, it’s not about pressure or training — it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and letting natural instincts start waking up. Some marched right in bold as ever, some studied the situation first… but every single one showed interest and used that nose exactly how we hoped they would.

Between farm life, Boss Man Charlie’s driving lessons, and now bird introductions, these little prospects are getting plenty of exposure to help shape confident, adaptable companions for the field and beyond.

And yes… the pigeon survived the encounter. Barely. 😂🔥

Monday Introduction 🐾

Meet Westin — our kennel assistant intern and the newest addition to the Spangler Creek crew.

Don’t let his age fool you… this one is a force to be reckoned with. Westin is a true outdoorsman at heart, with a natural drive and grit that you just can’t teach. From helping around the kennel to soaking up every bit of time in the field, he’s all in and eager to learn.

We’re proud to have him stepping into his role as kennel assistant intern, and even more excited to watch him make his field trial debut this fall. Big things ahead for this one. 🔥

Puppy socialization at Spangler Creek looks a little different around here. 🤠🚜

One day it’s hearing side-by-sides and tractors… the next it’s surviving a ride with Boss Man Charlie behind the wheel of the “farm truck”.

These Toby x Salt babies are being exposed early and often to the chaos of everyday farm life — kids, noise, vehicles, new environments, handling, and all the unpredictable things that come with living on a working farm.

Our goal is simple: raise confident, adaptable companions that can handle pressure in the field, transition into active homes, and hopefully not panic when life gets loud.

So far, they’ve taken everything in stride… including Charlie’s driving skills. 😂🔥

We believe good ones aren’t just born — they’re raised with experience, exposure, and a little bit of controlled chaos along the way.

Sorry we’ve been a little quiet over here at Spangler Creek…

We’ve got a brand new Salt x Toby litter on the ground — 10 strong puppies — and let’s just say things have gotten real lively around here 😄🐾

Charlie is officially in full-blown walking mode, which means he’s right in the middle of it all keeping the chaos at an all-time high. Between him and this crew, there’s never a dull moment.

We’re using the off-season to get things done around the farm:
🔨 mending fences
🪺 putting up quail houses
🐕 training dogs
🐾 working with this new group
🐎 spending time in the saddle
…and a little bit of everything in between

It’s busy, it’s loud, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
