I knew Skye’s time was getting closer, and I had hoped she would be able to go on the two trips I had planned for this year because I didn’t think she would make it another year. My dream was to take her to Niagara Falls and then back to the Smoky Mountains, where she loved relaxing on the patio, taking in the fresh mountain air. Sadly, her time came sooner than expected. I am so thankful she was able to enjoy Gettysburg, Virginia Beach, and the Smoky Mountains with us last year. Those memories will always be some of my favorites. Her fur siblings and I have been in Niagara Falls these past few days, and we’ve missed having her here with us. I kept wishing she could have experienced the falls, gone for walks in her stroller, listened to the roar of the water, taken in the beautiful scenery, sniffed all the new smells, and soaked up the attention from the countless people she always loved meeting. Then I saw a beautiful rainbow stretching over the falls. In that moment, I knew Skye was still with us. Maybe not in the way I had hoped, but in spirit. I could picture her right there, enjoying every moment alongside us, reminding me that love doesn’t end when someone is gone. It simply stays with us, following us on every adventure, until we meet again my baby girl. Mommy loves and misses you so much! ❤️🌈🐾

Skye is home. ❤️

She was cremated with her bed and her favorite blanket so she would always be surrounded by comfort and love. The funeral home gave me back a small piece of her blanket, something I will treasure forever.

Having her back home brings both comfort and heartbreak all at once. No amount of time with our babies is ever enough. 💔🌈🐾

It is hard to believe it has already been a week since Skye crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈❤️🐾 I decided to take a short trip to get away for a little while. As I was driving, I looked up and noticed the clouds looked like angel wings. Right away, I felt like Skye was sending me a sign that she was with me on the journey. Before leaving, I had placed her favorite bone on the passenger seat beside me, just like she was still riding along.

Later, I stopped at a small general store in Wytheville, Virginia. The very first thing that caught my eye was a painted rock with a paw print and angel wings, almost identical to the clouds I had seen earlier. In that moment, I truly felt Skye’s presence with me. ❤️

I want to share a picture that Skye painted awhile back. ❤️🐾 I encourage every dog parent to do this with their babies. I also did this with her fur brother before he passed away, and these paintings become priceless treasures once they are gone.

It is actually very easy to make and so much fun to watch them create their own masterpiece. All you need is a canvas, paint colors of your choice, and a clear plastic bag. Put drops of paint around the canvas, spread a little peanut butter or canned food on the outside of the bag then place the canvas inside the plastic bag. Carefully tape or seal the bag closed so you do not have a mess, then let them lick away and create their artwork.

You will end up with a beautiful memory that you can cherish forever. 🐶🎨🌈

It is with a heavy heart 💔 that I have to let all of Skye’s followers know that she peacefully crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈 in her sleep this morning. She was almost 10 1/2 years old. Although she had been slowing down with age, she wasn’t sick, so this was completely unexpected.

Even though Skye was special needs and couldn’t walk very much due to spina bifida, she still got to enjoy so many adventures and beautiful memories with us. ❤️

Last year she traveled to Gettysburg, PA, saw the ocean for the first time at Virginia Beach, and enjoyed the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. No matter where we went, she loved relaxing out on the balconies, soaking everything in. She loved car rides, riding around in her wagon, laying in the warm sunshine, and spending peaceful time by the pond. She loved opening presents at Christmas and on her birthday.

She may not have been able to do everything, but she lived a life filled with love, comfort, and happiness. I’m so thankful for every memory we made together. 🌈🐾

My heart is broken, and mommy misses and loves you so much. You will forever be my baby girl. ❤️
