Yes there will be Oysters at our Garlic Tasting ! Nothing is more beautiful than Oyster River Joinery and his Deep Walnut Oysters Platters. A must have if you love oysters like we do. Maine’s aquatic creatures inspire many of his designs. I just love the fact some of his wooden creations come from trees on his farm. We are thrilled he will be joining us at the Garlic Tasting .

Ramblings of a Maine Garlic Farmer : it’s that magical season called summer. It’s up at sunrise and out the door. Everyday has its magical moments. I am in the middle of the garlic scape harvest. The main reason for cutting garlic scapes (the flower stalks) is to redirect the plant's energy towards bulb development, resulting in larger garlic bulbs. Additionally, scapes are edible and have a mild garlic flavor, making them a desirable harvest in their own right.

Today’s the garlic scape harvest begins !!!!
Garlic scapes are the edible flower stalks that grow from hardneck garlic plants. They are harvested in the late spring or early summer to encourage the garlic bulbs to grow larger. Scapes have a mild, garlicky flavor and can be used in various dishes, adding a unique twist to recipes that typically use garlic cloves.

We are about a month out for the annual garlic tasting event . It’s going to be tasty!!!!
