First day jitters? Not when you’ve got 13-year-old Wolfie and 12-year-old Bonnie by your side.

Our newest Young at Heart volunteer, Sally, was a little nervous on her first shift, but these two seasoned seniors were there to reassure her: as long as the butt scratches kept coming, she had nothing to worry about. 😉

It’s moments like these that remind us how special our volunteers are. Every cuddle, scratch, and walk they give to our senior pets is returned tenfold in love, wagging tails, and contented sighs.

Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who make days brighter and golden years fuller for our beloved seniors! 🐾

This little fashionista and her equally lovable brother, Vinny, are a bonded pair of Chihuahuas searching for a forever home to keep them warm all year long.

From rescue life to lake life! Our beautiful alum, Coco Chanel, was adopted in 2023. Now at 11-years-young, she is living her very best life with her amazing parents, Mike and Gretchen!

This stylish, little Yorkie recently took a family vacation to Lake Michigan, trail hiking and beach combing by day, and cozying up by the campfire at night. Mike and Gretchen said, “She was truly ‘young at heart!’ Her face in the photo says it all.” 🥰

We couldn’t agree more. Seeing Coco so loved, happy, and adventurous reminds us exactly why we do what we do. Every senior pet deserves the chance to shine like Coco in their golden years!

This dapper 7-year-old is using his natural sophistication and his very real mustache to charm you into making a gift!

Paper towels, Purrpops, and dry mops are just a few of the essentials that keep Bert and his fellow seniors feeling fresh, full, and fabulous. And since spooky season is creeping up, we threw in a few extra treats (and maybe a trick or two) for good measure. 👻

Hi, I’m Bruce Wayne! 🐾 I might not fight crime at night, but I am on a mission to find my forever home. I’m an 8-year-old lovebug who lives for snuggles, belly rubs, and hanging out with my people.

I’m smart and playful; Kongs, food puzzles, and snuffle mats are my jam. I’m house-trained, good on walks, and always ready to be your loyal sidekick. And with a slow, easy intro, I get along just fine with other pups!

I’m learning every day to be more confident on my own, but I also love sharing quality time with the humans. I’m looking for a home full of love, patience, and plenty of playtime - a place where I can be both your superhero and your snugglebug. 🥰

It's National Vet Tech Week! It's the perfect time to celebrate our techs, Cecily and Kevin! 🥳 They are two incredible humans who offer their big hearts, gentle hands, and veterinary skills to better the lives of every senior dog and cat that comes through our doors.

Our beloved techs often go beyond what's expected of them, their love for our oldies evident in their every action - whether providing a comforting touch to a kitty during a nerve-wrecking exam or sitting on the floor to soothe a senior pup who needs a little confidence boost to get through the uncomfortable pokes.

It is because of their hard work and dedication that our senior pets are finally given the chance to shine brightly in their golden years. We sincerely could not offer the high level of care we strive for without them.

We want to thank every single person who came out to Sew Hop'd this past weekend to Sit.Stay.Sip for our senior pets! 🐾🍂

As the very first Sit.Stay.Sip, we were blown away by the turnout! We saw many familiar faces, met new friends, and were finally able to put faces to the names we've seen pop up on our screens. So many big hearts coming together to raise a glass (or a paw) for senior dogs and cats!🧡

A huge shoutout to Sew Hop’d for hosting us and tirelessly pouring those pints all night long, to Smash’D for cooking up a storm of drool-worthy burgers, our Featured Friends who contributed in every which way to help senior pets, and to our incredible Young at Heart volunteers who make every event run smoothly by jumping in wherever they’re needed with smiles, flexibility, and lots of love.

Most of all, thank you - our amazing community - for showing up with your pups and your pals, buying raffle tickets, donating, and spreading the warmth that keeps our mission strong. Your kindness, generosity, and love for senior pets make every wag and purr possible.

Guess this means we'll see you all at the next one! 😉

Today's the day! We'll be hanging out at Sew Hop'd from 4-7PM for our Sit.Stay.Sip for Senior Pets. 🐾🍺

It's free to join us! Come for the live music, the raffles, the good beer, the burgers from Smash’D - and give what you can to help provide senior pets like Evelyn with the comfort and love they deserve in their golden years.

While 11-year-old Evelyn won't be attending, she's keeping a beer in paw, celebrating her second chance with us in spirit. 🧡

In a perfect world, every senior pet would spend its twilight years surrounded by a loving family. But sadly, senior pets that end up in shelters often do not get that chance.

Young At Heart™ is a rescue and safe haven for senior dogs & cats in Northern Illinois founded in 2005. Young at Heart’s new adoption center & sanctuary just for senior pets opened in September 2019 in Woodstock, IL. Young at Heart's mission is to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion, and companionship in their golden years. We find loving homes for adoptable senior pets and offer a peaceful sanctuary life for those that are less adoptable. With your support, Young at Heart™ gives older dogs and cats another chance to enjoy the twilight of their lives through rescue, foster, adoption and sanctuary.

Young at Heart™ believes that Love Has No Age Limit™ and that senior pets deserve to enjoy their golden years wrapped in the love, safety, and comfort of a loving family.
