Come for the yoga. Stay because a cute senior dog sat next to your mat and now you're emotionally attached. 🧘‍♀️🐶

Join us Saturday, June 13th for Outdoor Dog Yoga in Peaches' Meadow! You'll enjoy a relaxing, beginner-friendly yoga class surrounded by nature and our senior dogs - followed by a 30 minute social with the real stars of the event.

No yoga experience is needed. Just bring a mat (or towel), some water, and a willingness to accept that your downward dog may be upstaged by an actual dog.

Don't take it from us, though. Here's what one past participant had to say:
"AHHHHH!! That was a literal life-changing experience... every animal melted my heart and it was just all around so amazing." ❤️

Tickets are required and space is limited, so grab yours before they're gone!

❣️ ADOPTED & LOVED ❣️

Sometimes you just know. When long-time supporters Kathie and Mike met 11-year-old Jakey, it was an instant connection. They played, they snuggled, and before long, it was clear he was the one. His new family described his presence as "exactly what we need."

Now known as Henry, he's settling beautifully into home life. He's enjoying daily walks, playing with his toys, making friends with the resident cat, working hard on his potty training, and most importantly, being adored.

His family says he's become Kathie's little shadow, following her everywhere she goes. When she's not home, he remembers that he also likes Mike. 😉 They made sure to add that they "love him to death."

Congratulations to Henry and his wonderful family!

Percy is the kind of cat who somehow ends up on top of the refrigerator and then acts like you're the weird one for being surprised. 🤨

This 8-year-old adventurer approaches life with endless curiosity and a healthy amount of mischief. If there's something to climb, investigate, sniff, or supervise, Percy is already on the case.

He's the perfect mix of independent and affectionate - happy to spend the day exploring his kingdom, then show up later for a cuddle session with his favorite humans. 😻 He loves being up high, keeping tabs on the household, and finding new ways to entertain himself.

Percy has lived with other cats in the past but can come on strong, enjoys safe outdoor adventures, and has enough personality to keep life interesting for years to come.

If you're looking for a clever, entertaining companion who will make you laugh every single day, Percy is ready to move into your heart - and probably onto the highest piece of furniture in your house.

❣️ ADOPTED & LOVED ❣️

7-year-old Bert is home with his new family, Sammie and Skylar!

At his meet-and-greet, Bert stayed true to himself. He spent most of the visit prioritizing his afternoon nap and acting like he had much more important things to do than meet potential adopters. But eventually, he emerged from his bed, started flopping over, and showing off his charm. By the end of the visit, they knew he was their guy.

His family reports that he's eating well, playing with his toys, sleeping in bed with them every night, and fully embracing his role as a lap cat. He's been known to fall asleep on laps, arms, backs, and apparently even heads. "He's hilarious!" his family coos.

We're so happy for Bert and his wonderful family. 🥰 Congratulations, buddy!

Today, we remember sweet 11-year-old Susie ❤️‍🩹

As a Sanctuary senior, Susie lived a quiet life, finding happiness in the simple things. She was gentle, reserved, and incredibly sweet - a girl who never asked for much beyond a comfortable place to rest, a friend nearby, and a loving hand to pet her.

Though she faced more mobility challenges at the end, Susie met them with determination and grace, continuing to enjoy the little moments that made her happy. Wagon rides around the block, cozy afternoons on the couch, and Saturday night movie marathons became some of her favorite pastimes. She had a special way of nudging a hand or arm when she wanted more pets, then drifting off into a deep, peaceful sleep once she was thoroughly loved on.

Susie may not have been the loudest personality in the room, but she left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. There was something so special about her quiet spirit, and the way she found contentment in simply being close to the people who loved her.

While our hearts ache in saying goodbye, there is comfort in knowing that Susie spent her final chapter surrounded by love, comfort, and companionship. We are so grateful to her Sanctuary family, Jen and Erik, for giving her a safe place to rest, to be cherished, and to simply be herself.

Rest easy, sweet Susie. May there be endless movie nights, comfy couches, and all the pets your heart desires over that Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

🚨 NEWBIE(s) ALERT!

Please welcome Jasmine and Callie to Young at Heart! These sweet gals - both estimated to be around 11-years-old - arrived yesterday from one of our partner shelters in Southern IL after losing their owner in January.

The shelter did everything they could for them, but after months of waiting without a single inquiry, it became clear they needed another chance. Thanks to your support, we were able to give them one.

So far, Jasmine has made it very clear that people are her favorite thing. She's happy to hop into laps and hand out kisses without hesitation. Callie is a little more reserved, preferring to watch her sister closely and make sure everything is safe before joining in. Together, they're absolutely adorable.

Over the coming weeks, we'll get these sweet little sausage rolls caught up on any care they need and help them prepare for the next chapter of their lives - one filled with love, comfort, and a family to spoil them through their golden years. ❤️

❣️ ADOPTED & LOVED ❣️

7-year-old Tater Tot has been welcomed home! His adopters took their time getting to know all of the kitties, but in the end, sweet Tater won their hearts.

His new family had cat beds, toys, and a cozy setup waiting for him, and from his very first update, it sounds like he's settling in beautifully. We've already learned he's a bit of a cookie beggar and not much of a fan of thunderstorms, but we think that's pretty relatable.

Congratulations to Tater Tot and his wonderful family! 😻

🚨 NEWBIE(s) ALERT!

Please welcome Millie (~14) and Diesel (~9) to Young at Heart. 💛🖤

These two bonded Labs recently found themselves dropped off at a partner shelter after their owner moved away. While it's been a lot of change to process, they've had each other every step of the way.

Right now, both old pups are settling in and battling some kennel cough, so they're not feeling their very best. We're focused on getting them comfortable, helping them regain their appetites, and making sure they know they're safe, loved, and never getting left behind again.

Millie and Diesel are not available for adoption at this time while we learn more about them and get them feeling better, but we're looking forward to helping them start this next chapter together. ❤️

❣️ ADOPTED & LOVED ❣️

7-year-old Chalupa is officially home! His family fell for him right away, and after watching him show off some of his tricks and dish out a few of his signature face kisses, they knew he was the perfect fit.

Since going home, Chalupa has been living his best life - exploring forest trails, making trips to Petco, learning new tricks, testing out new treats, collecting toys, and accumulating an impressive list of nicknames.

His family shared that they "can't imagine life without him" and are amazed at how quickly he's settled in. They describe him as cute, fun, energetic, cuddly, and full of love. And from the sounds of it, the feeling is very mutual. ❤️

A huge thank you to longtime Young at Heart volunteers, foster parents, adopters, and friends, Geri and Ron, for stopping by with YAH alum GiGi and dropping off around $700 in donations and goodies collected through their senior luncheon group, “Off Our Rockers.” ❤️

This incredible group has been gathering for 45 years, and for the last five years, Geri and Ron have used the luncheon as a way to give back to senior pets in need.

We are so grateful for your kindness, generosity, and continued love for the oldies. ✨
