LACEY – 8yo Oldenburg Mare | Brave, Careful & Athletic Jumper

Breed: Oldenburg
Gender: Mare
Age: 8 years (2017)
Height: 16.0hh (163cm)
Discipline: Jumping / Hunter-Jumper / Eventing prospect
Jumping Level: Schooling 90m (Training Level)
Flatwork: Schooling 3rd Level dressage movements (single changes, lateral work)
Location: California, Woodside, Bay area, USA

Lacey is a beautiful, athletic, bold mare with an exceptional mindset and natural jumping ability. She is brave, careful and always eager to work — confidently jumping any fence in front of her and happy to tackle any question her rider asks.

Lacey has solid flatwork foundation, schooling single flying changes and lateral movements, which gives her balance, adjustability and rideability between the fences. She is soft in the bridle, responsive and very focused on her rider — the type who gives everything once she connects with her partner.

Lacey is 100% sound, not overworked, and still naturally developing through the training scale at a healthy, steady pace. She is intelligent, willing, and learns fast — the kind of horse that becomes better every month under consistent training.

She would make an ideal partner for a confident junior or amateur rider looking for a brave, fun and talented jumping mare to enjoy in sport.

Horse for Sale - Woodside CA - SOLD

Elsa is a 7yo half draft, half Quarter horse. She is a stout 15.1 and the woman sitting on her in the photo is 5'9" and very leggy. Absolutely kid safe and easy on the ground. She needs her own person or family to build a relationship with her and dote on her. Prefers a low pressure job with variety.
Enjoys jumping and has coursed .95-1.0 easily in the past, but is overall a lazier type with not much desire to be very sporty. Cute mover for lower level dressage.
Great outside the ring around the property and on trails. Enjoys bare back riding and hanging out.
Has lead changes but not yet always clean or automatic. Super comfortable gaits to ride.
Asking $30k.
Leases and lease options will not be considered.
Serious inquiry only please. PM us for more information or trial scheduling. Thank you!

Here's a lovely little illustration and article about why being balanced on your horse is so important. https://www.facebook.com/DressageToday/photos/a.344748240393/10164186701240394/?type=3

To help you understand what the horse feels when you sit crookedly in the saddle …

"Load a wheelbarrow heavily to one side as in the center illustration. Now push the wheelbarrow, and feel how it pulls to the weighted side and how you are forced to lean in that direction to compensate. That’s how your horse feels when you sit unevenly in the saddle, as shown in the left image. When you sit evenly, the horse will be centered and balanced as shown in the illustration on the right." —Sharon Sweet

Trillium Farm is a friendly boutique jumper training/lesson barn that puts horsemanship first and competition second. We believe in a positive, supportive and open minded training approach that considers the needs of each individual horse and rider versus a set training system - and we always make sure to have fun while we are at it! We are located in Woodside, CA and looking for a temporary riding instructor. This position is for maternity backfill for 4-5 months (Oct. 2020 – Jan/Feb 2021). The work schedule would be Sunday-Monday and Wednesday-Friday.

This position requires an organized and passionate professional with experience teaching children and adults in flatwork and jumping. Being open minded, kind, flexible and patient are an absolute requirement for this position, as well as being able to work in sync with other staff for all aspects of horse care and chores. Please be in good physical condition without limitations to have the ability to build jump courses, be on your feet all day and assist with barn chores.

We offer a competitive hourly rate for this position and a fantastic opportunity to join a lively, supportive, hard working barn. Please send resume and qualifications. We look forward to hearing from you!
