Reese- the Littlest Shepherd! Since our Jade/Chokolino was born, Momma has been obsessed with Reese and little Bean. She would pick them up and carry them around repeatedly . These two girls fell behind the others very quickly and once they did it became even harder to compete with their siblings at the milk bar. Bean took to the supplemental bottle feedings and when we started solids at 3 weeks old she accepted it with gusto. She is already steadily gaining on her brothers and sisters. Little Reese however, was still struggling. When she tried to eat the soupy gruel the first time it was obvious something was very wrong as she struggled to swallow . Even nursing on mom
She would choke and gasp. Because she developed nasal discharge after attempting the solids she was put on antibiotics. She often sneezed milk out her nose. At 3 weeks old this baby weighed only 1 lb 4 oz. I always try to keep puppies with momma whenever possible but momma jade would not relent on carrying her. We finally pulled her and are giving her bottle feedings every 4 hours. At first she still choked a lot. We believe it is possible momma injured her throat by handling her roughly. There did feel like there was some swelling and if the esophagus was injured it could explain why she has struggled to swallow. She is a fighter! And is doing a little better every day. She is not sneezing milk out of her nose much now, and is able to drink most of her bottle before coughing or gagging. She is so tiny, but is also gaining weight so I think we are moving in the right direction. I will keep you posted on our sweet little Reese.. ❤️🥰

The girls now 3 weeks old from our chocolate and coffee themed litter ( Jade/Chokolino) for your viewing pleasure ❤️🥰 Our little Reese has gotten a respiratory bug and is currently in need of special care. Reese has fallen behind everyone else, while little Bean, although still very small, is starting to catch up.

Happy 1st birthday to our handsome Grimm!! He is a blue sable son of Dozer, future stud for us. He is loved and furever Fostered by the Bethels. Grimm has already achieved several AKC titles, and has passed his pennhip and ofa elbow prelims. He is going to be a BIG boy. Expected to mature out well over 100 lbs….
