Meet Max, the owner and founder of LECA Academy!

🐾 His favorite thing about working at LECA is helping dogs develop confidence and improve the bond with their human!

🐾 One thing he never leaves home without is an extra leash. He also has p**p bags in most of his pockets!

🐾 He teaches all his dogs to play fetch and tug and uses play to improve obedience.

🐾 One piece of advice he’d give new dog owners is to establish a schedule and routine and stick to it.

❤️Fun fact: Max’s passion and commitment to dogs runs deep! His grandfather was a professional dog trainer and Max spent his college years earning money as a dog trainer!

🐶 DOG OF THE WEEK: Annie

🐾 Annie is an *almost* 4 year old Yellow Lab.

🐕 This week at LECA, she’s been practicing the “back up” command — a foundational skill for agility training and super helpful when navigating tight spaces!

⚽️ Annie loves getting treats and playing with the soccer ball!

❤️ She participates in new dog assessments and helps socialize them, thanks to her impressive “bomb proof” temperament!

Meet Liz (she/her), our Director of Business Operations! You might recognize her from our puppy social videos or the front desk. As the first smiling face you + your pup meet here, she’s an integral part of the LECA family ❤️

A little about Liz….

Her favorite thing about working with dogs is the unconditional love they give 🐕

One item she never leaves home without is a p**p bag! When you gotta go, you gotta go 💩

Advice she’d give a new dog owner is crate train your pup—it’s a huge factor in keeping your dog safe. Also be ready to practice patience! It’s your dog’s first time experiencing the world so take it slow and make it fun! ✨

Keep reading for some helpful tips to have a safe and fun July 4th with your pup:

Know what your dog can eat: Dogs can eat plain cooked burgers and corn but skip the toppings, hold the corn cobs, and never share rib bones.

Keep your dog cool & hydrated: Offer plenty of shade and fresh water and don’t forget extra bowls make hydration easy!

Have treats readily available: Keeping your pup happy and distracted helps them avoid sneaking unsafe snacks.

Create a safe space for your pup: Not all dogs love strangers so read their cues, manage introductions, and give them space when they need it.

Plan for fireworks and loud noises: Fireworks and loud noises can overwhelm dogs. Keep them indoors in a safe space to help ease anxiety.
