Happy Tail! 🎉 Did you meet your best friend at Animal Humane Society? Brian and September share:
"After losing our two older dogs early in 2024, we decided to begin looking for dogs again in late 2024. On December 27, 2024, we stopped into the Woodbury Animal Humane Society and got the chance to meet Jax (formerly Jastes). Jax had been there for nearly three months and the staff couldn't understand why. Everyone who we interacted with indicated how great of a dog he was.
That same day we met Moose, who was just coming available after his neuter surgery. We came back on December 28 and spent more time with Jax and Moose and decided to move forward with adoptions for both.
Since Jax was only 2-years-old, we anticipated a learning curve but have been amazed at how quickly he has adapted to our household. He is such a happy, curious dog, but also very attentive and respectful for such a young age. He is our 55-pound lap dog every chance he gets. Though he came from down South originally, he loves the snow and happily hopped around in it every chance he got.
Moose was 9-months-old and is still coming into his own, gaining confidence with every passing week. The staff wasn't sure if he was hard of hearing or deaf when we picked him up but now we've realized that it may just have been selective hearing as he began perking up at the slightest noises outside within the following two weeks at home.
We don't think we have yet to see his full personality yet. Just within the last week, Moose has begun doing random zoomies in the mornings and has begun to develop a playful relationship with one of our youngest cat Otis, which is also fun to watch.
Unlike his older brother, Moose, also originally from down south, absolutely hated the snow, and did his best to lay quietly, pretending not to hear that it was time to go outside on a daily basis ("Maybe if i lay still and keep my head down, they won't make me go").
Jax and Moose have become quite close the last two months and often times you will find them playing and sleeping together with Moose most likely laying some portion of his body over Jax. Both are starting to realize that going for car rides is a fun activity, believing every time we head to the garage they should be joining us. We have begun exploratory walks around the neighborhood with the recent improvement in weather. Both become quite excited when they see the harnesses come out.
We are sure Jax and Moose will continue evolving and showing us their full personalities over the next couple of months. They make us laugh daily, and we are looking forward to more experiences together in the future. Thank you, Animal Humane Society!"
