Meet the team behind the scenes! 💙🌊

While guests are busy making memories, our animal care team is hard at work making sure every habitat stays clean, healthy, and ready for the animals that call it home.

From early morning maintenance to daily care and enrichment, a lot goes on behind the scenes to keep the aquarium running smoothly—and our staff wouldn’t have it any other way! 🦈✨

If you spot a blue shirt during your visit, be sure to say hello! Our team loves sharing animal facts, answering questions, and helping guests get the most out of their experience.

🐷💙 George has been putting his enrichment bags to the test!

Many of these fun bags were created by guests with the help of our amazing staff and are filled with treats, scents, and surprises for George to discover. Enrichment plays an important role in animal care by encouraging natural behaviors, problem-solving, and exploration.

We think it’s safe to say George approves! 🐽✨

Have you helped make an enrichment bag during your visit?

🦈🥚 There’s a baby shark growing in there!

These bamboo shark eggs may look simple from the outside, but inside each one is a developing shark getting ready for life in the ocean. Over the course of several months, the embryo grows, develops fins and gills, and relies entirely on the nutrients stored inside the egg until it’s ready to hatch.

One of the most exciting parts of caring for shark eggs is watching the development process. As the embryo grows, you can often see movement inside the egg, giving us a front-row seat to one of nature’s most incredible transformations. 👀

When bamboo sharks hatch, they’re completely independent and ready to begin exploring their world from day one. No parents, no lessons—just instinct!

Be sure to stop by and visit our shark nursery during your next trip to Woodbridge Aquarium. You never know when a future shark superstar might be getting ready to make its debut! 🌊✨

Most people think of training dogs, but did you know fish can be trained too? 🐟✨

Our animal care team uses target training with some of our aquatic residents, including our eel! Target training helps animals voluntarily participate in their own care, provides mental enrichment, and allows our staff to build trust while monitoring their health and behavior.

Training sessions like these are a great example of the incredible work that happens behind the scenes every day at Woodbridge Aquarium.

Have you ever seen an eel in training before? 👀
