🐴 Make an impact in the life of a rescue horse by signing up for our Equidopt Grooming Program!

Participants in this program our given the opportunity to “Equidopt” one of our horses. Grooming sponsors play a major role in their horse’s life through weekly grooming sessions with an assigned horse. This unique program allows you the time and place to build a special bond with a rescue horse. In addition, all “Equidopt” grooming sponsors will receive a DEFHR-branded grooming kit, seasonal gifts, and opportunities to participate in quarterly ground clinics and an annual event at DEFHR. ❤

Quizno arrived at DEFHR as a neglect case seized by Frederick County Animal Control in 2018. He was a body condition score of a 2.5 out of 9 on the Henneke Body Condition Scale, infested with lice and internal parasites. Look at his amazing transformation! After making a full recovery, we are happy to share that Quizno was adopted to his forever loving home! 🏠

Meet Yaxly (JC name: Rambo’s Quest), a 2021 unraced Thoroughbred gelding with unlimited potential!

Yaxly is the kind of horse who makes you excited to see what the future holds. He rides English and Western, walk/trot/canter, and has recently been started over fences. He’s building a solid foundation through flatwork, trot fences, and gymnastic exercises—and while he may be unimpressed by the 18”–2’ fences, he’s already showing us that there could be MUCH more in his future with the right development!

Yaxly is an absolute gentleman with a goofy, loving personality. ❤️ He has a super comfortable trot, a big canter stride, and is easy to get along with. He currently wears front shoes, requires no maintenance, and lives out 24/7.

If you’re looking for your next all-around sport horse, Yax is the man! 🥰 We can’t wait to watch this special guy continue to develop and see where his journey takes him next!

This sweet girl recently headed off to Hybrid Horsemanship, LLC to get started under saddle, and while she was there, something pretty special happened… Molly (who takes lessons at HH) fell completely in love with her! 🥰
