🌟 Our Summer Equine Care & Rehabilitation Internship is in full swing! 🌟

While our current internship session is underway, now is the perfect time to apply for our Fall 2026 session!

Internships at Days End Farm Horse Rescue give emerging professionals valuable insight into the day-to-day management, operations, and requirements of a large horse rescue. From feeding and rehabilitation support to learning the ins and outs of equine welfare, our interns gain hands-on experience while helping horses on their journey to a brighter future.

Our internship positions are available as both residential and nonresidential opportunities for those looking to advance in an equine-related field. 🐴

When Mochi arrived at DEFHR in March 2023, he was suffering from severe starvation and desperately needed a second chance. Thanks to the compassionate support of our community and countless hours from staff and volunteers, Mochi slowly regained his health, confidence, and spirit.

With a $100/month donation, you’ll be paired with one of DEFHR’s incredible horses for weekly grooming sessions. The Equidopt program also includes a DEFHR-branded grooming kit, seasonal goodies, and invitations to quarterly groundwork clinics.

Today’s Volunteer Spotlight shines on Donna! If this photo doesn’t capture her joy and sense of humor, we don’t know what does! 😄🐴

Donna has been a dedicated volunteer for many years, helping behind the scenes in the office with countless administrative tasks that keep our mission moving forward. Her hard work, kindness, and positive spirit always brighten our day... and apparently bring smiles (and yawns!) to the horses, too.

Did you know that DEFHR has a used tack shop onsite to raise funds for the horses? 🐴🛍️

Tinkerbell's Tack & Treasures is open the third Saturday and preceding Friday of every month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering everything from tack and riding apparel to horse-themed treasures... all while supporting horses in need!

This summer, we're excited to announce a new partnership with County Saddlery - Saddles & Saddle Fitting! Beginning this weekend, County Saddlery will be joining us during select Tink's Used Tack Sale weekends, hosting clearance sales under the pavilion and bringing even more reasons to visit DEFHR.

📅 County Saddlery will be onsite:
• Saturday, June 20
• Saturday, August 15
• Saturday, September 19
• Saturday, October 17

Even better, County Saddlery will donate 10% of all sales back to DEFHR to support our mission of ensuring quality care and treatment for horses in need. ❤️

Visitors on August 15, September 19, and October 17 can also enjoy saddle fitting demonstrations from 12–1 pm, adding an educational opportunity to the day and giving guests another chance to interact with our horses.

It’s Farrier Day 💅🐴

Did you know horses require their hooves to be trimmed every 6–8 weeks? Proper hoof care is essential to a horse’s comfort and overall health. Unfortunately, many horses that arrive at DEFHR have gone years without routine hoof care, leaving them in pain and in need of rehabilitation, including corrective trimming.

Every other Thursday is farrier day at DEFHR! Every horse receives the care they need, whether it’s a routine trim or corrective work to help them get back on the road to recovery.

Want to lend a helping hoof?

A $50 donation provides one horse in rehabilitation with a corrective hoof trim. Your support helps keep our horses comfortable, healthy, and one step closer to a brighter future.

Now available for adoption! 🌟 Meet Manny!

This sweet, gentle giant of a Standardbred has quickly gained a lot of fans and love from DEFHR staff and volunteers. He is such a good guy with a big heart. ❤ He is straight forward and a pleasure to work around. If you are looking for an easy going, low maintenance companion horse, he is at the top of the list! He recently started in our training program with one of our volunteers and he has not put a hoof wrong. He is delightful to lunge and round pen, being responsive and light without being overly so. He melded right into our gelding herd with minimal drama and it’s like he has been here his whole life in a such a short time. He came in with a mare so he can go out with mares or geldings. 🐴

We’ve not evaluated him under saddle yet but if he hangs around a little longer, that is the next step for this handsome gelding. If you looking for a gentle, kind friend for your horse(s) at home, you don’t want to miss out on meeting Manny!
