I've been prepping Forest for the NAVHDA, natural ability text. Today we did a simulated version of it and he was as good as I can ask for! Here's videos of the field search, the track, and a swim. Now he just needs to do it for the real thing

This was the end of one of the crazier things I've seen. After working with a couple chukar and a starter when we were walking back in, a big red tail hawk flew over us with a chukar in its grip! When Forest saw it he started running toward the hawk, I fired the starter, and that made the hawk drop the chukar! So Forest got a retrieve with an assist from a hawk

Forest showed me some better pointing today, he was consistently pointing, but needs to be cleaned up a bit. He ran a pretty good track for it being the first I put down for him. His retrieving is pretty great off the bat, he's picking up anything he can find!

I got what I could on video this time, but there's a bird in the grass that Forest is learning how to search for. I got him on some birds today and will start to work on his point next time. He showed me just a little bit of a point, but with more birds and some training I'm sure he'll be pointing soild soon enough! He certainly has the drive, we just need to put all the pieces together.
