I am making an adjustment to my weekly grooming schedule.

I will not be available on Saturdays in the near future, picking up extra appointments on Tuesday to help compensate. This means I will not be available either traditional 'weekend' day, which I realize may make scheduling more difficult for some clients.

Clients most affected include further travel regions including my former 'regular day' around Seneca Falls/Auburn and Lyons/Newark. I'll work with you all as I transition gradually over the next couple months to determine our best scheduling options after our currently existing ones [which I'll try to work around and leave alone]

After discussion with my husband: We are prepared to offer LIMITED pet boarding.
Cats or small critters in cages would be in a separate building than dogs.

We are still figuring out the logistics.

Our preferred client base would be animals who would benefit from boarding under the supervision of a vet tech, such as those with chronic pain or diabetes... help giving daily fluids to a cat recently diagnosed with renal disease... helping overweight animals start a new diet and exercise plan where the owner won't have to feel like the bad guy during the adjustment period. Dogs that don't tolerate much grooming at a time and would benefit from living with an OCD groomer.

As we're still figuring out the market - please comment any thoughts you have or tag anyone you know with a pet that might benefit from boarding with us.

All my pets show symptoms of severe Attention Deficit Disorder.

No matter how much attention I give them, it's never enough

Happy Anniversary to me! Met with a lawyer the final time to complete my LLC paperwork 5 years ago today.

I've now worked primarily for myself for 5 consecutive years, making this the longest job I've ever held. I worked at Tim Hortons for 7 years, Non-consecutively, but that may have had something to do with the relaxed overnight atmosphere and 30 hours per week with the man I ended up marrying, while we still worked together.

Then laid off together - I went back to looking for an actual career path, someplace I might find fulfillment.
I had left college for lack of direction and lack of finances... at 27 the government would stop considering the income of my whole family and just consider me.
On my 27th birthday I was hired to work at a vet's office, that offered discounted tuition at a cooperating college if I studied to become a vet tech while working there.
I jumped at the chance, studying and working in the kennel.

I found I liked the kennel.
I liked learning the personality of all the regular dogs and cats.
I started to consider opening my own animal care business, and just using my degree as a credential and a backup.

I worked as a vet tech for a few years... Bounced between a few places. Started at a Fear Free vet around the same time I moved to Wolcott... the end of 2020. Found those Fear Free handling skills to be Invaluable at the grooming I had started doing on the side.
And in the 2020 priority shift... decided to take a gamble and make grooming, as my own boss, my main gig instead of vet teching. Got enough gumption and enough cash for the lawyer by 2021.
April 12, 2021 I officially opened Emily's Home Pet Care, LLC.
Approximately 50% of new businesses fail by the 5 year mark.
I'm still growing and still stubbornly against raising my prices because more clients and more efficiency is my natural raise system...
So celebrate with me, pray for my continued success in this God-forged path of service through business

As some of you know - I'm also a vet tech and keep in practice by working one day per week at Fruit Valley Vet Clinic.

One of our Amazing receptionists has an Amazing dog who needs help financing some medical care.

Donations to Bronx means money off your next grooming appointment!

I am meeting new clients/donors at the vet office to limit what additional driving it may entail and make sure I can keep this commitment
- but existing customers can donate and when they add your name to the lists of donors I can still schedule with you at your home as usual.

Donations go through Fruit Valley to Bronx, and they will let me know who has earned $50 off for next time.

Reach out to them to save yourself some money!
Offer ends June 1st

I ought
As a business woman
Not tell you this

I started my Business BEFORE its official LLC adoption near 5 years ago
At the time I didn't even believe in God

I do now.
No pressure to you
But I do.
And he, before I recognized Him, led me to this.

Not to convert - when I didn't believe at the founding
But to love
Just love.

To come to those who need
To give Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness (loyalty!). Gentleness. And Self Control.

This is how I've learned how lucky I am.

This is why I love you.
Why I love your pet.

Sorry I don't post more before/after of grooming.

I try to do a Great job

But it's really not the point.

Helping is.

Because it's been a while:

Emily's Home Pet Care is a pet care business, primarily grooming, where I travel to and work with all manner of pets. My training includes specializing in animals with anxiety, and/or medical issues as I am also a licensed veterinary technician.

Besides grooming I can help administer medications, do pet-sitting check ins for clients who live near me, or whatever other small pet related tasks you need.
I am based out of Wolcott, NY.

I have bonded with hundreds of animals and clients since starting my business in April 2021.

I try to be patient, gentle, practical, and affordable.
