There's a lot of moments where people in this game will either take aim or intentionally miss...

At the end of the day, it is what it is...

We can waste energy on all that stuff, or we can apply it where it matters...

With the level of nuances to this, especially when we're talking on a behavioral level human and animal alike, the reads aren't that difficult to make...

This is the internet too, we can usually find a mass group to validate how we feel, but at the end of the day, why does that matter?

For me personally, these animals are going to be the truest indicators of whether the moves are right or wrong...

The people often come secondary to me...

Even with the level of trainers I've come to know, the only one I'm truly concerned with disappointing, is myself...

That's not saying I don't truly appreciate the nods because I absolutely do, but just saying that those don't make or break what I do.

Nor am I bothered when someone doesn't like something.

I try to make sure what comes across my feed inspires me to become better, especially in some of those more nuanced areas.

That doesn't mean I'm better, that doesn't mean I'm worse...

That just means I'm me...

Looking for more depth, more growth, more reason and more purpose...

As brand ambassadors for Loop it in the United States, we wanted to share this message from them.

We will keep everyone updated, but shipping to the U.S. from their company base in Canada, is temporarily paused due to tariffs.

Chris and Teddy have been working very hard, and it shows!

This is one of the cleanest times they've done this sequence.

Teddy is improving so much in many areas and it's wonderful to see.

It's even better when we get messages from his pawrents saying how much better he's been at home.

He has the drive and desire to work his brain and body and he's just a really neat dog.

I can't wait to see how he further progresses with us.

Nice work this morning as always, you two!

30 Days of Happiness.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you Chris for nominating me for this challenge.

How it works - Post 1 photo a day for 30 days of anything that brings you happiness. Your photo can have an explanation or not. Tag 1 Page every day with your post so they can carry the torch and start their own 30 Days of Happiness.

Day 11 - I nominate Offbeat Canine Training

I took these over the years in the mountains in New Mexico.

Most of these are in Ruidoso and Cloudcroft.

This will forever be one of my happy places, my home.

If I had a nickel for every time I said down after he spilled out while I was prepping breakfast today...

I'd have like $5...

I swear 😅😂

So...

Why?

Well there's a number of reasons it could be...

Multiple things at once too...

Regardless let's just say for the sake of right now,

None of that matters...

What does matter ultimately is our frustration level through it...

Me knowing those factors allows me to give him a little grace...

Just a little, because I know he knows the assignment...

That means the amount of times ultimately doesn't matter.

I have to put him back every single time...

Even if I chose to add layers now, the set up alone while it would make it easier...

Would ultimately water down this little song and dance between him and I today...

So today it was just a as long as it takes...

At one point I felt my own frustration...

I had to stop and remind myself it is what it is,

He's being a turd, but he's not doing it on purpose because of x,y and z...

What that did was level me back out,

So every following time...

I laughed about it...

That also helped me see that he himself was just struggling with the task at hand...

In that moment...

He's a well trained dog,

I don't think you'll find anyone out there who knows him that would say otherwise...

This happens to be where he struggles most, so on days where one of us is off...

This is where it shows.

He's not always going to be perfect,

And neither will I...

So for anyone putting in the work here's your reminder...

I see you,

And I see your hard work...

That's why I always make a point to make a point when I meet people and their dogs.

I'm always going to acknowledge the work being put in, even what you don't tell me I can usually see.

And I want everyone to acknowledge that.

Just because you call a trainer doesn't mean you're failing...

It means you're committed to success...

No follow through...

And not paying attention...

Two things that kill understanding...

Without understanding there is no communication...

See the dog?

A lot going on here today...

Most times he's basically free to do whatever he wants...

But that's not always the case...

So for us we need the ability for him to do what you see here...

Sure, maybe you don't need to have your dog hold a down while people he knows and doesn't know are doing stuff while you empty scrub and fill horse waters...

But maybe, just maybe, you trip over your dog in the kitchen sometimes...

The reality is...

The solution is the same...

Do you know all of the functions of a dog's philtrum (the groove between the nose and the upper lip)?

There are interestingly several, including helping to keep the nose moist by channeling saliva upward through capillary action.

This is crucial, as the moisture allows the nose to capture and hold more scent molecules, significantly enhancing a dog's powerful sense of smell.

The philtrum also plays a role in the flexibility of the upper lip and serves as a channel to transfer odorants to the vomeronasal organ (also called the Jacobson's organ) for detecting pheromones.

The moisture channeled up from the mouth also helps with the dog's self-grooming of the nasal area.

The philtrum is also involved in the dog's self-cooling mechanisms.

TLDR; the groove on your dog's nose is called a philtrum, and it is useful for helping them smell more effectively because it holds moisture, giving the upper lip more flexibility, helps them self groom the nasal area, and helps them with self cooling.
