We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Truth

Grouse may be king… but some of my favorite memories are in the pursuit of doodles. I always joke with my clients that grouse make the experience but doodles make it tolerable.

They are by far my favorite gamebird to pursue and now that they have migrated out for the remainder of the fall in my area, they leave behind a pool of fresh memories from this year. Three dogs on point , multiple 40 flush days , three people harvesting them as their first wild bird.. just to name a few. But just as quickly as they were here, they disappear leaving a northern upland hunter dreaming of next fall..
