Just a reminder during this heat wave to keep an eye on your furry friends!

A dog’s body temperature is slightly higher than us humans. (Ranging from 100.5 to 102.5F!) They’re a lot quicker to overheat! 🔥

🍉 Some tips to keep your pup cool this summer:

☀️ Be sure to check the ground before taking them on walks. If the asphalt is too hot for your hand or barefoot, it’s too hot for them!

☀️ Be sure to keep walks short if it’s too hot or to walk them earlier in the morning / later in the day when the sun isn’t as high in the sky. Sticking to shade or grassy areas is helpful too.

☀️ Be sure they’re drinking a good amount of water and staying hydrated. Watermelon can be a great treat for dogs to stay hydrated in moderation!

☀️ Make sure to never leave them unattended in a hot car, even if just for a few minutes!

☀️ Treats like doggy ice cream, pup cups, and frozen fruit are great for staying cool.

☀️ Pools, sprinklers, and hoses are our go-to for a fun refreshing day outside when it isn’t too hot! 🐳

And don’t forget to bring your pup to daycare so they can keep cool with their friends! 🐕🐾⛱️

Dog of the Week: Mabel (aka Maybelline the Jumping Bean, Mabel Babel, Mayblade)
Mabel is a 2 year old golden retriever lab mix and has been coming to Sandy Paws daycare for 3 months.
Her best friends are Wilson, Mikey, Terry, Bentley, Margot, and Pici.
Mabel loves jumping around, twirling, the hose outside, and playing with all her friends. Mabel doesn’t like being crowded or when she’s ignored.
Fun fact: Much like the dancing queen, she’s the jumping queen! 👑
