Dogs will be Dogs!
▪️The faster we learn how to understand dogs, the quicker these things will stop happening!
▪️This is a perfect example that aggression has nothing to do with a breed. It has everything to do with humans not understanding dogs.
▪️I see this with a lot of my clients, big or small dogs, adult or puppies …
▪️clients comforting their dogs when they are anxious and overstimulated, instead of redirecting and giving corrections,
▪️Clients telling an aggressive or reactive dog that it’s Ok, instead of correcting them to let the dog know that they don’t need to act out in aggression…
▪️Clients forcing friendships through dogs that don’t want to be friends just because you want the dog to have friends!
▪️Now, with all this said, your dog doesn’t have to have friends, but they have to at least understand who is in charge and they can’t just go around acting out in a aggressive manner to every other dog or human they see….
like making your kids go to class and telling them that they don’t have to be friends, but they do have to keep their hands to themselves and have manners!
▪️That is what we can help you with as well as helping you understand, dog psychology, and reading their body language so things like this stop happening!
▪️The problem is, this is a big cycle, now this puppy is gonna grow up and be reactive and fearful because he got attacked because of something that humans wanted…..the older golden retriever is going to be labeled as an aggressive dog because he attacked a puppy, as well as thinking that what he did was OK because of the touch/praise that the humans gave during the process!
▪️And a cycle continues on and on and on and on and on…. Because of humans, not because of a breed and not because of dogs in general, but because of humans that are ignorant to the fact that they need to learn how to understand dogs and not just get one because they’re cute or because of what they look like!
We are failing , as pet owners, and as handlers!
