The Washington State Legislative Session begins this Monday, and Pasado's will be at the Capitol fighting for the animals. One of our major goals for 2026 is a statewide ban on cat declawing. We're also fighting to ban force-feeding birds to produce foie gras, improving animal welfare standards for dog breeding, and more.

We only have 60 days to make our voices heard this year. You can start NOW by signing in PRO for two critical bills by January 14:

➡️ HB 1904 – Ban cat declawing in Washington: https://bit.ly/BanCatDeclawing-HB1904
➡️ HB 2247 – Allow vets to see animals via telehealth: https://bit.ly/VetsViaTelehealth-HB2247

How to sign in:
1. Click each link above
2. Choose “Pro” in the "Position" field at the top of the form
3. Enter your name and info
4. Hit "Submit"

Thank you for standing with the animals. Make sure to follow us here and on all our social media for action alerts and updates as the session unfolds. Let's do this!

We received a wonderful update from a former foster that was adopted through Seattle Humane.
Mallow was rescued from a project here in Winlock. She was a shy girl when she was fostered by Jasmine King. Her time spent in foster care helped build her confidence and trust people more.
She's now the little sister of Gary. She adores him and spends most of her time being that annoying little sister. ❤️ Thank goodness Gary is patience and sweet.
We love these updates.
So grateful for all our fosters who open their homes to give cats and kittens a chance to thrive.

This sweet boy was brought in as a stray, found near Schafer Park in Centralia on Hwy 507. He does not have a collar or a chip. Reach out if you know where he belongs! (360)740-1290.

I am available!
My name is Tyson, and I was brought in as a stray from Hwy 12 in Chehalis. Sadly no one claimed me, so I am now available to be adopted! I am the sweetest boy guessed to be about 4 years old. I love all the attention I can get. I am litter box trained and would make a great indoors cat! It is unsure how I would react to other animals but with my easy-going personality and with a slow proper introduction I have lots of potential to adapt and do well. I am already microchipped and vaccinated. On January 14th I will have my appointment with the vet to be neutered. I eager to meet my forever family! Please adopt me today

ADOPTED!
My name is Rudolph, and I was brought in as an owner surrender. I am a very sweet and affectionate boy, estimated to be around 3 months old. I love to cuddle and am always up for a good playtime! I am litterbox trained and have been indoors most of my life. I get along great with other kitties and have briefly had contact with dogs. With my young age I have tons of potential making new friends, but I will need a slow introduction. I have not had much experience with little kids and might be scared at first, but I come around very quickly! I love being handled and picked up. I would make a great family kitty! On January 14th I will have my appointment to be neutered. I am already vaccinated and microchipped, now ready to meet my new forever family!

🐱 Did you know?

Female cats can go into heat every 2–3 weeks until they’re spayed or become pregnant (starting at as early as 4 months of age. 😬)

That’s why veterinarians recommend spaying female cats between 3–4 months of age (and no later than 5 months)—so they never have an accidental litter of kittens.

Spaying early helps prevent overpopulation and keeps cats healthier and happier. ❤️

Please spay your cats and help protect their future.

So grateful to Gracie Barnes for making our rescue trap covers. They are so well made and beautiful!
Just in time for my trapping next week! Now, I am excited to use to trap and use the covers.
To those who reached out to help and I didn't follow up with you I AM SORRY. December was a busy month especially with the holidays and my vacation.
As we begin 2026, please help cats in YOUR community by getting them spayed and neutered. We can help you find low cost appointments and trapping if needed.
Together we can make a difference. Now let's go save some cats.

I am available!
My name is Pepper! :)
I was brought in as an owner surrender. I am a very sweet but shy girl, estimated to be around 1.5 years old. I am litterbox trained and have been mostly indoors my whole life. I have never seen a dog before, but I do get along with most other cats. I have not been around young kids, so I may want to run and hide while the kiddos are around. I do okay when being picked up, but I tend to get squirmy and like to cuddle on my own terms. I am not yet spayed, but I have an appointment scheduled on Jan. 9th. I am already vaccinated and microchipped, now ready to find my new loving family!

Is it really “rescue” if we grab the easy ones… and leave the rest behind?

It feels amazing to scoop up kittens- the friendly ones, the tiny ones, the ones who are easy to catch. And yes, saving any life is something to be proud of. If you save 19 kittens, those 19 will be fixed, vaccinated, and find wonderful homes. That is absolutely a success.

But if the moms are still out there, unfixed… do you know how fast you’ll be right back to 20+ again?
Sometimes in as little as a few months.

That’s the part people don’t always see.
It’s a vicious cycle for the mom cats who are left behind. While the cute babies get adopted, mom goes right back into heat. Pregnant again within weeks. Starving again. Hiding again. Nursing again. Losing babies again. Over and over.

If we want the cycle to stop, we have to finish a site.
Not halfway… not just the easy ones.
All of them- especially the breeding adults.

The shy cats who probably won’t be adoptable still need to be fixed.
The adults you don’t have space to take in still need to be fixed- even if they’re returned afterward. Because a fixed cat is no longer creating an endless stream of kittens who also need rescuing.

And honestly? It feels way better knowing you ended the cycle for an entire colony than grabbing the cute babies and calling it a day. Anyone can be the hero who takes the kittens. The real impact- and the real rescue work- is making sure no more kittens are born there again.

Fix them, finish the job, and you save dozens more lives than you’ll ever physically hold in your arms.
