On January 22, 2025 WVQHA is partnering with El Bandito Mexican restaurant in Oak Hill, WV for a fundraising opportunity. El Bandito has graciously offered to share 10% of the profits from dine-in and carry-out orders sold between 4 and 10 PM with WVQHA. Thanks to Lisa Wells Shuff for spearheading this event! We're stoked to announce that sponsorships for our April 12-13 show are starting to trickle in. Building on last year's success, where we raked in some serious cash for our exhibitors, we're poised to blow those results out of the water. A huge thanks to Bowyer Psychological Inc. for kicking off our sponsorship drive with a generous $250 donation to the NSBA green hunter under saddle class. Let’s grow this show!

WVQHA’s 2024 year-end banquet is fast approaching. Don’t forget to return your RSVP to Janie Wymer ASAP so we can plan accordingly. The banquet is January 25, 2025. In addition to food, fellowship, and awards, we will be hosting a silent auction and giving away door prizes. Any silent auction donations are appreciated. I don't know about you all, but all this snow has me counting down the days to WVQHA's first show of 2025. We've got 91 days until our first show on April 12-13. Our April show is put on by WVQHYA. The show is their largest fundraiser of the year. Last year, we raised nearly $9000 in sponsored prize monies. 100% of the funds were paid out to exhibitors in our NSBA classes. It's never too early to start collecting those sponsorships. Attached you'll find our 2025 WVQHYA sponsorship form. We'd love to raise even more money for our exhibitors this year! Remember, winners of classes with $500-$999 will receive an NSBA plaque and classes with $1000 or more will receive an NSBA trophy! Let's get those trophies! In addition to NSBA approved classes, we have a full slate of AQHA and open stock breed classes.

2024 WVQHA ELECTION RESULTS ARE IN!

Our election drew to a close on December 15, 2024. Thanks to those who nominated individuals, those that accepted nominations, and those that took a moment to vote for their favorite candidates. We saw more interest in leadership positions than in the past and, as a result, had a fantastic group of candidates to choose from. As my term as president draws to a close, I'd like to thank everyone who allowed me to bend their ear and pick their brain. Thanks to those who answered my panicked questions (sometimes repeatedly) and offered grace when I had no idea what I was doing. I wholeheartedly appreciate those that demonstrated flexibility by generating and trying out new ideas and those who offered up sweat equity by moving poles and carrying bridges and pounding the pavement collecting sponsorships. It takes so many hands working behind the scenes to host a horse show. None of your efforts went unnoticed. Lastly, thanks to my wife, Lisa, who supported me as I navigated the learning curve associated with the role of president.

Based on the election results, WVQHA's future looks bright! Our incoming leadership team is full of bright, hardworking, and capable individuals. Congratulations to all who won a position. Good luck to you all. I can't wait to watch you all succeed in the new year! 🍾🥂

WVQHA family, I have very sad news to report. Our longtime supporter and director, Chris Payne, passed away this morning. Please keep Kathy and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Chris was a friend to all and his presence will be missed greatly.

Hot off the press! WVQHA’s 2025 dates, show bills, and judges are available on the website! You’ll notice 11 new open stock-breed (AQHA, APHA, ApHC, PHBA, etc.) classes and 3 new AQHA working western rail classes! The open stock-breed classes will not only offer our non-AQHA friends an affordable venue to show their horses but also a great option for schooling greenies and not-so-greenies. These classes have an entry fee of only $15! All-breed competitors can duke it out for beautiful year-end high-point buckles!
