We are volunteers saving abandoned animals at the Bertie County outdoor shelter! Please adopt ..don't shop! (We have no control over County policy.)

BCHS (501) consists of a very small group of volunteers taking care of the abandoned animals of Bertie county! Volunteers & donations allow us to maintain our own NO-KILL shelter for cats. We also work with Bertie County Animal Control and the dogs at their canine (KILL) Shelter. If you see a dog that interests you -- PLEASE CALL OR POST IMMEDIATELY. Our county shelter is very small (10 runs) and

we can influence a dog's short-term survival if there is even a CHANCE of adoption or rescue! Our Animal Control Officer is very helpful when he can be. MAILING ADDRESS:

🚨🚨THESE 9 DOGS NEED OUT OF THE SHELTER
WE NEED AT LEAST 3 EMPTY KENNELS!
More dogs are coming into the shelter‼️

We have 31 dogs!!
7 are in foster homes
13 are in boarding
11 dogs at the shelter (9 in adult kennels and
2 in puppy kennel)

There are only 10 adult kennels and 3 puppy kennels. (There’s 2 quarantine kennels)

There are 9 adult dogs at the shelter that need to find APPROVED ADOPTION HOMES, RESCUES or FOSTER HOMES!!!!

ANIMAL CONTROL needs empty kennels. They prefer to have 4 empty kennels but allow 2 or 3 empty kennels sometimes (but they could bring in 3 or 4 dogs in one day…. So it’s imperative that we find safety out of the shelter for at least 3 dogs!! 🐶🐶🐶 immediately ‼️

Look at their sweet faces! Every one of these dogs are friendly and sweet and deserve to live!
They deserve to have loving families to cherish them forever.

⛔️⛔️keep in mind if you can FOSTER, ADOPT or RESCUE dogs that are in boarding then that would free up space in boarding for us to move dogs from the shelter to boarding to save their life!

🚨WE NEED A FOSTER FOR ONE OF THESE PUPPIES!
(Or a rescue or a forever approved home)

We have a foster to decide whether to adopt one of them, but we do not want one of the puppies left alone at the shelter !
Both are female

They have recieved their first puppy vaccines on 9/8/25
Puppies require a series of vaccines

If adopting proof of spay at 6 months old must be provided. This is STRICTLY enforced.

Puppies are so full of joy and fun but require a lot of work. House training. Basic training. So unless you are willing and ready to have a puppy please do not apply to adopt.

When fostering our rescue provides medical, food and supplies.

PLEASE consider rescuing, adopting or fostering one of them‼️
They are guessed to only be somewhere between 10-11 weeks old. They are friendly, precious, and so very sweet

MISSING TWO BABIES! Only 8 weeks old 😩💔

Owner said one has slick hair and the other one fuzzy

AREA MISSING: Off highway 42 between TRAP and COLERAIN

They live outside with their mama. They followed their mom into the woods. We were told they’ve done this before but “this time they didn’t come back” 😩

He is back home safe!!

Missing from the Merry Hill Blackbeard Beach area. If you see him or know where he is please PM us. He is missed greatly.

Meet Archie, everyone!
➖️This precious boy is young and still acts like a puppy. We think he is around one year old.
➖️Archie looks bigger in pictures. He only weighs about 35 pounds. He is underweight, of course. 😫
➖️We don't know if he was on his own a long time or kept outside. The poor boy came in very thin and looking pretty rough.
😭 He had lots of cuts and nicks on his face and was missing hair in places.
He is definitely getting better!

➖️Through it all, Archie hasn’t shown any aggression towards the other dogs through his kennel. He likes to give Chanel kisses through the fencing. He also did well saying HI to Checkers at the fence.
Archie has not been to the vet, and we do not know his heartworm status.
➖️Archie has not been neutered.

Please show Archie there are some kind people in the world. ❤️
