Nube came in to remove her ovaries and uterus because she was feeling unwell, and a pyometra was suspected. A pyometra occurs when a pet who is not spayed gets an infection. Nube had what is called a closed pyometra, which is even more dangerous because the bacteria has nowhere to drain out of. This is a life threatening disease and one of the many reasons why we recommend spaying your pets! Nube is happy and feels so much better after surgery :)

Now through January 31, all donations made to VCA Charities at VCA Animal Hospitals throughout California will support disaster relief efforts, including support for pets impacted by the current devasting fires in the Los Angeles area. VCA Animal Hospitals is proud to support VCA Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in their disaster relief efforts. Every dollar helps local animal welfare organizations shelter, transport and care for pets through grants that fund veterinary care, medication, food, and supplies.

Sometimes, it takes the whole tech team to do treatments on our patients. Someone doing treatment, someone restraining. But if we have extra hands, we need someone to feed treats and someone to pet the patient, of course!

Happy Thanksgiving from VCA Windsor Animal Hospital! We are closed on Thanksgiving and do not have a doctor working the day after. We do have a receptionist working the Friday after to take phone calls and check out medication fills.
This is a friendly reminder to keep your pets safe during Thanksgiving! Don’t give them any human food or any easy access to trash/scraps. 🦃❤️

This week celebrates animal shelters and rescues. It is heart breaking how crowded shelters are today. The people who work at these places are incredible human beings who work day and night to care for these displaced animals, and help to make their lives as best as they can. If at all possible, adopting a pet at a shelter or donating is the best way we can thank these facilities
