Rabid dog in Hall County

Hall County Animal Control is advising the public that a dog was found to be positive for rabies on October 28, 2026.

A press release Thursday is to advise that a human had contact with a rabid dog in the North Hall area of Clermont. The dog was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab – Virology Section in Decatur.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid animal was located. If you see an animal acting abnormally, contact Hall County Animal Services — 770-531-6830– or Hall County Dispatch during non-working hours.

Rabies alert for Gwinnett county

RABIES ALERT: GWINNETT COUNTY ⚠️
A rabid cat attacked two people in Norcross earlier this week, and now county health officials want help getting the word out. If you come across strangely behaving animals, leave them alone. If you or your pet are bitten or scratched by a wild animal, always seek medical attention! In October, the USDA will drop over 600,000 oral rabies vaccines across parts of far north GA to slow the spread between wildlife.

Upcoming closure:

We are working this week and next week before we are closed for roughly a month. Last work day is Thursday Sept 24th, and we will reopen Wednesday Oct 20th. If you need an appointment, let us know as spots are filling fast. If you need a product, let us know with enough time to potentially order the product and drop it off/mail it before we leave.

We will have an assistant monitoring the phone while we are gone who can assist with getting products while we are gone, but we would like to make it as easy as possible for her in appreciation to her for helping us.

RABIES VACCINE AIRDROP: NEXT MONTH 🦝
The USDA will be airdropping 648,000 Oral Rabies Vaccines across parts of north Georgia in October. The graphic below shows the approximate drop zone and what the vaccines will look like. The vaccine pouches will be dropped via airplane and helicopter and are coated in a fishmeal attractant to get the attention of wildlife. Humans and pets should leave these alone as they are intended to slow the spread of rabies between wildlife.

We have a client with a Doberman M/N roughly 8-9 years old that she is looking for a good home for him. He is very people friendly, very healthy, but a little on the hyper side. She is currently in a rental without a fence and may be moving out of state. She hoping to find someone with a large backyard who can handle him.
