In 2016 when we introduced Brandon (CH Set’r Ridges Frappuccino of Wind Dancer) to our line we were pleased to see the impact he had on our dogs. When you bring in a dog with different lines you can get a bump in their progeny, where what is produced in the pups is greater than what each parent brings to the line. We saw this when Brandon was introduced and such exceptional pups were created. Many of you may know of Josie, who exemplified this phenomenon. She lived with Chris Wilson in Utah and spent all her years out west hunting all the species of wild birds. You’ve probably seen Josie in the beautiful pictures Chris took of her and has posted on bird dog sites over the years. She exemplified the best of the gentleness and hunting ability of her Ryman-type mother combined with a style, grace and energy of her Laverack sire. She made friends and attracted positive attention everywhere she went.
The cross of a Ryman type ES to a bench setter was what created Josie and we’re hoping for a repeat in quality hunting and conformation with this breeding.
Chris researched the bloodlines and records of dogs throughout the country to recreate that Josie magic. We decided to go to Festivity English Setters. Copper was bred to CH BJ’s Festivity Secret Weapon, JH (Taser), owned and bred by B.J. Parsons DVM. This guy is a bench champion, field pointed and on his way to becoming a future Dual Champion English Setter. If you want a cross of a Ryman-type ES to a bench setter this breeding is exceptional.
