Big John has gone home to be with Stardust.

I’m not able to write the eulogy he deserves right now.

I’m sorry.

He didn’t want to go, and we didn’t want him to go but his body wouldn’t let him stay.

I’ve never felt grief this raw and this deep and this aching.

His final act was to lay gently down to the earth before Dr. C arrived so we didn’t have to watch him fall when it was time to say goodbye.

I can’t explain it but I know he knew.

He knew what was happening and he spared us any pain or trauma that he could.

It was just who he was.

He changed our lives more than any other horse.

We love you Big John.

They say when you pass, your happiest moments in life play out for you for seven minutes.

I told Ally it was likely for Big John we, the team, Dr. C, Antonio, the tours, beer, Cotton and especially Stardust were Johnny’s whole seven minutes.

I do know he will be in a large chunk of mine.

I miss him so much and I don’t know if this pain, this loss, will ever end but it was the price of loving something so great…

I would gladly pay it all over again, just to have known Johnny for a single minute.

This is so shocking and heartbreaking. The world can be so scary….please pray for healing for the horses and their owners/riders

An isolated incident was addressed immediately at the 2026 Official NBHA Las Vegas Super Show, and all appropriate steps have been taken to ensure the well being of all horses. We ask for respect and understanding for all involved during this sensitive time.
