Congrats to TigerLily, now Lola, on grabbing a furrever family of her own! She joins mom, dad, big kid brother and sister, and Penny, and it already looks like she’s spoiled as can be. We couldn’t be more blessed with the amazing families who stepped up to give these pups amazing lives from their very humble beginnings 💕💕💕

Remi Lynn (aka Minnie Pittie) was adopted to a beautiful family in Massachusetts. Remi is part of a big fur family and has two growing kids to teach her how to be the best she can be. Thank you, Palmer Fam for loving our girl so much!!

Sorry to have been in hiding for so long. We have some super awesome updates about our pittie litter who were rescued from under a dilapidated, abandoned house, so stay tuned over the next couple days!

See these faces?

Feel free to zoom in, to look into their eyes.

THIS is why we work so hard for spay/neuter.

We cannot save them. We cannot rescue our way out of the overpopulation crisis. Spay and neuter is the only way. These dogs and so many more, plus just as many cats are unwanted because there are far more animals than homes.

These are just some of the unwanted dogs in desperate need we are asked to take each and every day, usually 50 or more a day. All of these beautiful dogs were offered to us and other rescues in the last few days. Young and old, large and small, purebred and mixed. Puppies who will never have a chance, adults in their prime, senior dogs who will die without ever having the lives they deserve. Some of these dogs will be saved. Some have likely already lost their lives because there are far more unwanted dogs than homes. It’s a painful reality in rescue and we live with the heartache every day.

This is why we have such a passion for spay and neuter. It’s not sexy or fun or feel good work, unless of course you’ve worked in shelters or rescue. When you’ve watched the life drain out of a young healthy animal for lack of homes, spay neuter becomes an amazing way of saving thousands of lives and preventing suffering.

To rescuers this touches us to the core of our being.

Dogwood has funded 3,611 spay/neuters so far THIS YEAR, this represents tens of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens that won't be born into uncertainty and suffering! Most of these animals are owned by families' that could not afford the cost of the surgeries along with hundreds of feral cats that were trapped, fixed and released back to their colonies.

We cannot rescue/adopt our way out of animal overpopulation (we've been trying for decades!), we must help get ahead of the problem by curbing reproduction.

We thank our donors and fundraising volunteers for making funding our Spay/Neuter Program possible. We are making a difference, thanks to so many, one animal at a time.

These faces are why we do what we do. And why spay/neuter is so critical.

Making a difference one animal at a time.
