Look at this little boy grow!! 🥹🥹🥹 Now we just need him to relax. He has been terrified of us from day 1. We set up a camera in the room to check on him. He is so relaxed when we are not around. He is slowly getting better and won’t immediately run when we open the door to say hi. This is progress! We know it will take time and patience with Lumos since all he has known is a scared existence of survival in the outdoors.

Our Queen B 👑 🐝 is one of the main reasons we started a sanctuary. She was terrified of humans but blossomed when given patience, compassion and friends. We feel she could tell it was a safe space here. This old lady has come such a long way!

Happy Halloween! Who would be Marge?

IYKYK that Marge the yak is a feral old lady. She is coming up on 3 years with us, but she is at the ripe old age of about 18. She still likes some tricks but prefers treats. Round bales and alfalfa cubes are her jam.

Hermie is the first dog Hagrid hasn’t hated. Hagrid usually charges the fence with our other pups. Hagrid even chose to come graze near her. He seems unfazed. He probably saw that donut cone and was wondering if it was real for a snack. 😆 🍩

The goatie girls have been loving this Fall weather. ❤️ Do you see how big Sybill is!? 🤯 She is an adult now 🥹🥹🥹. As a Boer or meat goat breed, she is one of the biggest breeds of goats! Her stature certainly reflects this. But even a year ago she was still recovering from being neglected and emaciated. She has come such a long way!

We are missing pasture time already. 😭 😭 😭 With night time temps in the 30s, the pasture grass is too high in sugar for the equines. Big D 🫏 has had laminitis from steroid use for her asthma. Laminitis is very sensitive to sugar so she can’t be out there this time of year. Laminitis can be life threatening and is no joke. It’s inflammation of sensitive layers of tissue (laminae) inside the hoof. It can become severe and affect the position of bones which can cause severe pain. Knowing when it’s safe for your equines to forage is so important for their health!!
