Today is an exciting day for Island Dogs! We are celebrating 2 YEARS of serving this wonderful community in/around Wilmington! 🌊🌴

May 10th is National German Shepherd Day!

- The German Shepherd breed was first established in 1899 in, you guessed it, Germany!

- They worked as war dogs in both WWI and WWII

-Although German Shepherds require lots of activity and strict training, they can make the most loyal and protective companions!

- They came to the United States in the early 1900’s and were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1908

- German Shepherds also make for great police dogs, service dogs, and have appeared in many movies & TV shows throughout history! 🐾❤️
