To all of my faithful clients and their beloved pets, it is with mixed emotions, some sadness but mostly a bounty of extreme heartfelt thankfulness to announce my semi-retirement. I will still stay on board for a while, part-time, half days.
When I began my dream of helping animals, I was 13 years old working in a kennel for Dr. T.C. Needham. I continued to work for him on weekends, holidays, summer breaks and all through college. After college at UNC and vet school at Auburn, I returned to Wilmington to work for him again, this time as a DVM! Terrified but determined, in 1988, I decided to go out on my own and establish a veterinary clinic in Leland. That’s when I really started building bonds with clients and their pets. I was overwhelmed with the number of clients that followed me “over the bridge." In 1991, I returned to Wilmington and established Dineen Animal Hospital to carry out my compassion for providing veterinary care to our pets.
So after several years of planning, researching and deep thought, I am very pleased to announce that I am turning over my practice to my associate, Dr. Rudi Richmand. Dr. Rudi received her VMD from Penn State School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After a 1-year internship in emergency medicine and surgery, she started working at Wilmington Animal Emergency & Trauma Hospital and is still working there. In the 3 years that she has been working for me, I have observed how similar our philosophies are, her amazing surgical skills, and her ability to build strong client relationships. I know that she is the right person for the job. You can be assured, you will continue to receive the highest quality of veterinary care and compassion of which you have come to know and trust over the years. And yes, my entire staff will be staying aboard and for that I am very proud.
Words alone cannot express how thankful I am to all of you wonderful pet owners. I can sincerely say that I have the BEST clients! You have entrusted the care of your precious companions to me and my staff for 45 years and it has truly been my honor. I will be forever grateful for giving me the opportunity of living out my dream of becoming an Animal Doctor.
With warmest regards always,
DR. Jeff
