Meet Shana

Shana Altschuler’s love for horses began at the age of five. It was then that she asked her mother for riding lessons and her lifelong passion began. At the age of twelve, Shana began riding with Harry DeLeyer in East Hampton, New York where she helped break and train young horses and had the opportunity to participate in many hunter/jumper shows on the A circuit. After high school, Sh

ana attended Skidmore College where she rode on the Equestrian Team. Shana helped led the team to National Championships in 1993 and 1995 and also won the Individual Intermediate Over Fences National Championship in 1993. After College, Shana took a job at Sag Pond Farm (now Wolffer Estate Stables) in Bridgehampton, New York where she trained young horses and young riders. During this time, she travelled on the A horse show circuit and also helped manage a barn of sixty plus show horses and ponies. At Sag Pond, Shana had the opportunity to train with some of the best show jumpers in the world, including Tim Grubb and Joe Fargis. In 1999, Shana briefly left the world of horses to attend law school in New York City and subsequently practiced in the field of corporate litigation before leaving the profession to have children. Shana now lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and three young children and has returned to her true passion in life, horses.

Owl Ridge riders had beautiful weather and a great week at HITS Saugerties! Highlights include:

🏅Demi Kyranakis and Harrison 1st in the Low Pony Classic and 2nd in the 2’ Derby
🏅 Shana Altschuler and R River Star clear all week and 12th in the $15,000 1.35m Speed
🏅 Emily Rohrbacher and IDS Vittorio 2nd and 3rd 1.0m Junior Jumper
🏅Stella Bjork and Euphoria moved up to the 1.0m Junior Jumper with a 3rd place
🏅Juliann Green and Excel Star Imagine get top equitation ribbons all week including two thirds in the adult medals
🏅Henry Hollis and Timson van HD 3rd and 5th in the adult medals

The Owl Ridge Riders had a very successful week at State College!

🥇Elizabeth Schreiber and Playing the Star “Cora” won the Junior/Amateur Derby out of over 30 entries and was reserve champion in the Low Adult Equitation division.

🥇Cady Buonocore and Harrison were reserve champion in the Low Pony Equitation and 5th in a very competitive Pony Derby.

🥇Juliann Green and Excel Star Imagine were champion in the 3 ft Adult Equitation and winners of the Ariat Medal.

🥇 Sara Sprowls and It’s A Partie were reserve champion in the Jr/am equitation divison.

🥇Emily Rohrbacher and IDS Vittorio won great ribbons in the Jr/Am Jumpers including taking 2nd in the Classic

🥇Emma Levine and I Think I Can won top
Ribbons in the 3 ft Green Hunters including winning the $1000 Green Incentive

🥇 Henry Hollis and Nero Sudine E.B. earned top ribbons in thw Adult Equitation including a win over fences and a second the Dover Medal

🥇 Shana Altschuler and Timson Van HD received top ribbons the the 3 ft Green Hunters including second in the $1000 Green Incentive.
