Meet Shana

Shana Altschuler’s love for horses began at the age of five. It was then that she asked her mother for riding lessons and her lifelong passion began. At the age of twelve, Shana began riding with Harry DeLeyer in East Hampton, New York where she helped break and train young horses and had the opportunity to participate in many hunter/jumper shows on the A circuit. After high school, Sh

ana attended Skidmore College where she rode on the Equestrian Team. Shana helped led the team to National Championships in 1993 and 1995 and also won the Individual Intermediate Over Fences National Championship in 1993. After College, Shana took a job at Sag Pond Farm (now Wolffer Estate Stables) in Bridgehampton, New York where she trained young horses and young riders. During this time, she travelled on the A horse show circuit and also helped manage a barn of sixty plus show horses and ponies. At Sag Pond, Shana had the opportunity to train with some of the best show jumpers in the world, including Tim Grubb and Joe Fargis. In 1999, Shana briefly left the world of horses to attend law school in New York City and subsequently practiced in the field of corporate litigation before leaving the profession to have children. Shana now lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and three young children and has returned to her true passion in life, horses.

We had a fabulous week at Swan Lake for the Mid Atlantic Classic. Highlights include:

🏅Juliann Green and Cool Champ were champion in the adult equitation and winners of the $1500 2’6 Derby
🏅 Emily Rohrbacher and IDS Vittorio won the THIS medal, were reserve champion in the Children’s Equitation and second in the $1500 Child/Adult Jumper Classic.
🏅Cady Buonocore and Harrison were champion in the modified pony hunters as well as the low children’s pony hunters.
🏅Hannah Jackman and Take Five were second in the THIS medal, sixth in the $2500 National Hunter Derby and received top ribbons in the children’s hunters.
🏅Courtney Cooper’s R River Star was 7th in the $3500 Welcome Stake and 4th in the $7500 Mini-Prix
🏅Valegro DHZ won the 1.20 speed stake and placed 7th in the $7500 Mini-Prix
🏅 Abby Johnston and Cailbrese V’ant Leftkozen were 3rd in the $3500 Welcome Stake.
🏅Shana and Tindetta Van Het Eelshof was 3rd in the $2500 National Hunter Derby and earned top ribbons on the 3’ USHJA.

Owl Ridge had a wonderful week at HITS Cupeper Finals. Highlights include:

🏅Juliann Green and Cool Champ champion in the Adult Equitation
🏅Cady Buonocore and Harrison champion in the 2’ USHJA and Reserve Champion in the Junior Equitation
🏅Stella Bjork and BGS Bright Spark Champion in the .90 Junior/Amateur Jumpers
🏅Shana Altschuler and Timson Van HD Champion in the Training Hunters and Reserve Champion in the Baby Greens
🏅Maria Bhatti and Casatille Le Cade class winners in the Low Children’s Hunters.
🏅 Juliet Vadas and Domani 25 and Upswing class winners and other top placings in the Low Adult Hunters
🏅Hannah Jackman and Take Five successfully moved up to the 3’ hunters and equitation with top placings.
🏅Shana Altschuler and Camryn 2nd in the open 1.30 jumpers and 8th in the $5000 Open Speed
🏅Emily Rohrbacher and IDS Vittorio moved up to the 1.10 jumpers with a class win and other top placings.
🏅Abby Johnston and Calibrese winners in the open 1.20 jumpers and 6th in the $5000 Open Speed

A fun successful week all around! 🦄❤️

Our last show of summer was a huge success! We had too many winners and good photos to choose. Owl Ridge riders won in every ring from pony hunters to equitation finals to professional jumpers and everything in between!

Owl Ridge Farm brought a group of qualified riders to Fieldstone for year end finals and they did not disappoint! Every one of our riders was Champion or Reserve in their final. Congratulations everyone!
