Meet Shana

Shana Altschuler’s love for horses began at the age of five. It was then that she asked her mother for riding lessons and her lifelong passion began. At the age of twelve, Shana began riding with Harry DeLeyer in East Hampton, New York where she helped break and train young horses and had the opportunity to participate in many hunter/jumper shows on the A circuit. After high school, Sh

ana attended Skidmore College where she rode on the Equestrian Team. Shana helped led the team to National Championships in 1993 and 1995 and also won the Individual Intermediate Over Fences National Championship in 1993. After College, Shana took a job at Sag Pond Farm (now Wolffer Estate Stables) in Bridgehampton, New York where she trained young horses and young riders. During this time, she travelled on the A horse show circuit and also helped manage a barn of sixty plus show horses and ponies. At Sag Pond, Shana had the opportunity to train with some of the best show jumpers in the world, including Tim Grubb and Joe Fargis. In 1999, Shana briefly left the world of horses to attend law school in New York City and subsequently practiced in the field of corporate litigation before leaving the profession to have children. Shana now lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband and three young children and has returned to her true passion in life, horses.

Our last show of summer was a huge success! We had too many winners and good photos to choose. Owl Ridge riders won in every ring from pony hunters to equitation finals to professional jumpers and everything in between!

Owl Ridge Farm brought a group of qualified riders to Fieldstone for year end finals and they did not disappoint! Every one of our riders was Champion or Reserve in their final. Congratulations everyone!

Owl Ridge Farm used tack sale is on! Saturday June 7, 2025 come and bring all your unwanted horse items to sell and come shop! Rain or shine. Please bring a table, we will provide snacks and refreshments. If you can’t make it saturday and have stuff to sell contact me and we can handle your table and items. Local barns and trainers. Was thinking of putting together a weekend (possibly end of May) where we could combine a tack sale and sale horses. Trainers and/or clients could bring tack they want to sell (or trade) and we can also have a showcase where people can bring their sale horses to be shown and tried. We would have time slots for different types of horses (for example 10am -12pm 2’6-3 foot hunters 12pm-2pm 1.0-1.20 jumpers) and buyers could come preview and try them onsite. Would that be something people might be interested in doing? I am located in Wilmington Delaware.

Owl Ridge Farm is bringing Pony Camp back for 2025! We welcome riders ages 4-14 from beginner to advanced. Daily horse back riding lessons, hands on learning of horse care, trail rides, mounted games, arts and crafts and more! Camp runs 9am-1pm $400 per week. Dates below.
