We are very excited to be in an area where we can offer convenience, flexibility and a whole lot of tail wagging. Our location offers: holistic pet foods and treats, toys, leashes, collars, dog training (classes as well as individual and in home sessions), doggie day school and kennel free boarding. Doggie Day School: is all about individual attention and playtime in a social environment with othe

r temperament tested dogs who love to interact with people and other dogs. We pride ourselves about being a step above many doggie daycares. Your best friend will enjoy a day of play, socialization, individual help with special issues as well as walks. We keep our doggie day school small in numbers to allow us to provided individual time with your best friend. Doggie Day School/Boarding: We are offer boarding in a limited fashion, all dogs spending the night with us must be temperament tested in order to play with our Doggie Day School students. We are a kennel free facility, however we do have crates for those friends who enjoy some den time instead of sleeping on their very own air mattress with blankets. We will only board 10 dogs at a time to ensure your best friend has as much fun on their vacation as you do yours. A staff member always spends the night at our facility. Training classes/individual help: We offer a wide variety of classes and flexible days and times to our friends. At D & G's we don't believe a dog is just a dog, we believe your dog is your family member and love helping you and your best friend create a lifetime bond of trust, respect and love.

The grief at times is almost overwhelming, but then I realize the honor I was given to be blessed by such an amazing friend through all the lessons we learned together. Dex was my business partner. He was my copilot and taught me more than I was able to comprehend while he was still with me. So many times, when watching young dogs getting just a little to amped up and not being respectful to their elders, I catch myself thinking, what would Dex do? I can't believe tomorrow, July 29th, will be 3 years since I last held that sweet old man in my arms as he took his last breath. Our first year was nothing short of a miracle that we both survived and still respected one another. Year 2 still had it's challenges and he was definitely still a wild card but had become such an important part of my world.
12.5 years on this earth, 10.5 years with me, truly was not long enough for me, but I know Dex had fulfilled his purpose with me, and it was time to rest and prepare for his next. Forever and always Dex.

Yesterday was a healing day for Doretta and I. We sure have had a rough 14 months. The tough part about approaching 14 years with doggie day school, boarding and training is the families and their beloved dogs become such a part of our every day lives. Over the last 14 years we have shaken our heads together, we have laughed together, we have celebrated together we have cried together, we have worried together and now we find ourselves mourning together much more frequently than anyone should. In the last 14 months, 18 of our beloved friends have started their next journey at The Rainbow Bridge. Most recently my own Griff and shortly after him sweet Goldie. In honor of all these wonderful souls we would like you see some of the souls waiting for our help including sweet Rueger who took my breath away as he is a 6 year old slightly smaller version of Griff. Pay special attention to the little guy I'm petting, he will be joining our Diesel's Friends Shelter dog program very soon and will be available for adoption. Highland County Dog Pound and Wardens

At 5:52 a m. Tuesday, June 23rd. My heart stopped. My friend, my smile, my laughter, my comfort and the one friend I have ever had who accepted all the dogs, fallen birds, stray rabbits, cats and yes even a baby opposum without hesitation, passed suddenly in my arms with his siblings surrounding him. He made my heart dance every time his favorite song played, Pentatonix "Hallelujah." He always sang the chorus with such feelings. He was judged constantly by Dex in the day and continued to be judged by Dorscha for what we always called the weekend parent with puppies. The other dogs would work hard to teach the pups' manners and respect to the other dogs, and within seconds, Griff would undo everything by laying on the ground for the puppies to crawl on him. He loved nothing more than going to the lake with me on Sunday mornings, just the two of us. His eyes connected with all humans in a way that we all knew Griff understood our deepest thoughts and feelings and never once judged us. On hard days, he felt the best therapy was to offer his butt for a good scratch, and yes, it always made we mere humans feel better.

Cooper, the undisputed king of empty toilet paper rolls and an amazing dog, came into this world, February 28, 2012. Cooper led an uneventful life the first nearly 14 years of his journey with his starter family waiting patiently for his forever family. January 2025, life changed, and Cooper was finally able to find his purpose and his true forever family. While Cooper was busy hoarding empty cardboard tubes, he was also teaching his mama and other family members about patience and mutual trust . Proving you're never too old to learn or teach. Sadly, Cooper decided he had fulfilled his purpose in the wee hours of May 1st, 2026. Cooper leaves behind his canine sisters, his mama Brandy Priest, his special cousin Haley, along with many other loving family members. Rest easy, sweet boy, job well done.
