Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc.

Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc. Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals’ lifesaving animal advocacy programs help save homeless dogs and cats in our community and beyond.

At Heidi’s Hope, we save homeless dogs and cats by keeping pets with families, feeding those in need, rescuing in disasters, and finding forever homes—because every life deserves love, hope, and a second chance. In addition, our programs help keep pets out of the shelters and keep them in their homes with their families, where they belong. Listed below is some of our impact in saving the lives of

homeless animals in need:

Heidi's Hope for Homeless Animals' Pet Meals on Wheels

Sadly, many Senior Citizens share their meals with their pets for various reasons, mostly because they can’t afford to buy pet food. In 2018, we created Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals’ Pet Meals On Wheels program to feed hungry pets of housebound Senior Citizens. We grew this program to be available in New Hanover County, Onslow County, and Pender Brunswick County to provide monthly pet food donations to house-bound Senior Citizens.

MEET ELVIS. Calling on our Spaniel-Lovers-Club to Share the word that we have a senior Cocker who is looking for a soft place to land. ELVIS was found on the streets so his History is a Mystery, but we do know that this tiny little guy is friendly and happy and oh so sweet! He has a cherry-eye type situation going on that needs some diagnostics and a bit of care, but that doesn't get Sir ELVIS down. We know that with help from our FB family, we will soon be able to announce that ELVIS has left the building!
BCSAPS is open Mon - Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-2. Please arrive at least 30 min before closing to give the staff time to pack your new family member's bags.

HAPPY NEWS: ADOPTED!

June marks the beginning of National Microchipping Month 🐾

Did you know a microchip can be one of the simplest ways to help bring a lost pet back home? While collars and tags can fall off, a registered microchip provides permanent identification that can help reunite families when pets wander too far. 💛

At Heidi’s Hope, keeping pets safe is part of our mission — which is why we’ve helped place 6 microchip scanning stations in and around Wilmington to help reunite lost pets with their families faster. This month, take a moment to check that your pet’s microchip information is up to date… because every pet deserves a safe trip home. 🐶🐱

Thanks to the incredible support of our donors and our partnership with Greater Goods Charities, Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc. made a tremendous impact this month!

Over 2,285 pounds of pet food were distributed through our Pet Food Bank, helping hundreds of dogs and cats stay fed, safe, and with the families who love them. Every pound represents more than food—it represents hope, relief, dignity, and the comfort of knowing a beloved pet won't be left behind.

We also provided kitten formula for orphaned kittens, blankets for cats recovering from TNR surgery, food and supplies for community cats, and support for a dog entering a domestic violence shelter with their owner as they begin a new chapter of healing and safety.

Together, we're keeping pets in homes, supporting vulnerable animals, and creating brighter futures—one paw at a time. ❤️🐾

Imagine a world where every dog, cat, and pawed friend could run without fear. A world where no animal had to hide from cruelty, suffer in silence, or wait for help that never comes. Such a world would feel lighter because compassion would guide how people treat the living beings who share our homes, streets, and hearts.

Animals trust with a rare kind of openness. They do not ask for wealth, status, or perfect days. They ask for food, shelter, kindness, and a place where they can rest without fear. When we protect them, we protect something good in ourselves too. Care for animals teaches patience, empathy, and respect in the most honest way.

A better world for animals will not happen by accident. People must build it through rescue, adoption, education, and brave action when harm appears. Every gentle choice matters. Every protected life matters. Every paw that finds safety brings us closer to the world they deserve. 🐾🌙
