Good morning my PawTree family! I just wanted to share something with you that is a bit outside of the business, but is super important to me. In 2003 my son Nicholas was diagnosed with cancer, at 2 years old. Through very aggressive treatment, he beat it and is now almost 22 years old and a senior at UNC Charlotte in North Carolina. I am so proud of him, and he is my hero and who I want to be when I grow up.

Starting April 1 I am going to be walking for St Jude to help raise money for children battling cancer and to help parents who can't afford the treatment. My son's bills... they were over $1.5million. And I would pay it again every day of the week and twice on Sunday if I had to. There is no price that can be put on life, in my opinion.

I have to walk at least 60 miles between April 1 and April 30. I am a big guy, so this is going to be a bit of a challenge, but I am going to do it and then some. 🙂 If you are at all able to help me and sponsor me with this, I would be very grateful. If not, that is ok too. I just wanted to throw it out there.

So, not every day is going to be a great day. Take my dog Josie, for instance. She has a surgical procedure a few days ago, and because of where the IV was established, she licked it to raw and created an additional wound. NOW, she gets to wear the "cone of shame" to protect her from herself, and also so that we can administer some healing wound care ointment.

But hey, she is otherwise healthy, vibrant and an amazing dog. So, yes, things could be a lot worse and they could certainly suck more.

I say that as the one who does not have to wear the cone.

These birds are so cool, and a favorite of at least ONE of my kids. They are only found on a few islands in Hawaii, and give us such a feeling of nostalgia whenever we see them... they help us to get back to our happy place :)

I believe that everyone has some type of motivation for getting up every morning. Whether it is for kids, love, family or self; everyone does everything for some conscious level of motivation.

But to be the best, or even better, one must have a POWERFUL why. Something that is SO compelling that no matter what happens... one will succeed.

What is your why? Let me know what makes you tick. Let me know what is so important in YOUR life that you are compelled to do your absolute best in all things.
