This is so exciting for our staff as well as the Wilmington community! ♥️

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center is proud to introduce Dr. Nicole Alleva and welcome her to the team. Dr. Alleva will join the team officially on October 1st.

Dr. Alleva grew up in New York. She earned her BS in Biochemistry at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. She then attended veterinary school at Cornell University. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship at the University of Georgia. From there she went to the University of Missouri for her Neurology/Neurosurgery residency. During her residency, Dr. Alleva had the opportunity to work in both a private practice in Charlotte, NC as well as in academia.

Dr. Alleva enjoys all aspects of neurology but has special interests in treating meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO), intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and epilepsy.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Alleva enjoys spending time with her husband and son, as well as her two cats and dog. She enjoys gardening, reading, and hiking. Her goal is to visit every state park in North Carolina!

Dr. Alleva will start to schedule patients sometime in October once we ensure our MRI is set up and her and her team get acquainted and oriented to their new equipment.

Welcome to the Team Dr. Alleva, we are excited to have you here and to be able to offer Neurology services to Wilmington and our surrounding communities.

We want to thank everyone who has reached out since our explosion sending your thoughts and prayers, well wishes and encouragement. This has meant so much to our team, who continue to show up to work each day, taking care of your pets, while carrying the load of dealing with the loss of moving to our new building.

Many people have inquired about sending funds to help with rebuilding and other costs. Our insurance will be helping with that, and as I thought about a way for the community to show their support to be involved in our recovery and moving forward initiatives, it occurred to me that your generosity could be best served by helping other pet owners who are struggling to pay for the care of their pet.

Many people do not know that Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral has a not-for-profit foundation that is meant to help these owners. The love of pets goes beyond financial status and the love and comfort one gets from being a pet owner should be supported.

I think the best way to show support and to be a part of our recovery is to donate to this fund rather than towards rebuilding and construction. The returns on your donation will help many pet owners select the level of care needed to address illnesses or injury so their time with their pet is extended and the pet will live at its maximum ability, providing the love and companionship we all appreciate from our pets.

The link above will take you to the Veterinary Care Foundation's website, as they administer this fund. Thank you for your support of ECVR and thank you for your donation.

Thank you to everyone who sent in a nomination! Your words were so greatly appreciated and meant so much! 💙

ECVR Superhero Nominations

Every day, there are heroic acts being taken to help save the life of your pet, or to improve its quality of life. Our team consistently is responding to the crisis, and they swoop in to "save the day".

They may not be wearing superhero capes or masks, rather, they are suited in their scrubs, and they are racing forward to care for your pet. Often times these heroic acts go unnoticed as they are not seeking the spotlight and it is considered a part of their job. They are humble, yet they are heroic.

This is your chance to recognize our heroes at ECVR. You can use the QR Code or the link below to nominate your hero. You can nominate as many separate heroes as you would like, simply rescan the QR code for each nomination.

We are proud to recognize this big-eyed beauty Khala for her hard work shredding those pounds! Khala has lost over 2 pounds in the last month, which may not sound much - but thats about 8% of her body weight! On such a small frame it’s making a huge difference. Go Khala! Keep up the good work!
