We are making some changes to our weekend schedule. Our staff and doctors work long hours all week long and we want to help them keep a healthy work life balance. To reach this goal we will no longer be open every Saturday. To accommodate clients who need to have their pets seen on Saturdays, we will be open First Monday weekends on Saturday from 8-12. In the past we have only had a single doctor in office for Saturdays, but now we will have both doctors and a full staff so we can see as many animals as possible. So if you need to schedule your pet’s well visit for a Saturday, call ahead 903-873-4100, to book the appointment now. We also offer drop off appointments during the week, so if you don’t have time to come to an appointment, your pet can spend the day with us to receive care. Lastly, we know there are emergencies that pop up at inconvenient times. We will be available to see emergencies not just on Saturdays, but nights and all weekend as well, just call our regular number 903-873-4100 for help.

It is very important to have your pets teeth cleaned once a year, and here's why... 🐶🐱🐾🦷

Dental health is a very important part of your pet's overall health. Plaque and tartar buildup can lead to gum disease, infections, and tooth loss. If left untreated, bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream, affecting major organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Lucky for you, in August we run a dental cleaning special (this doesn't include extractions). Call now to reserve your pet's spot, we are filling up fast. 903-873-4100

Dr. Telles is performing a teeth float. which is a dental procedure to help improve the horse's ability to eat comfortably and efficiently.

This procedure is necessary because horses' teeth continue to grow throughout their lives, and chewing can lead to uneven wear and sharp points that can cause pain and difficulty eating. Floating is a common procedure, and most horses will need it at least once a year.

Welcome, Dr. Telles!
We are excited to welcome Dr. Naila Telles, a recent graduate of Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2025. Dr. Telles brings a strong academic and clinical background, along with a deep commitment to advancing animal health and welfare.

🎉 Big News: Dr. Buck VanTrease is Retiring! 🎉
After 41 years of dedicated veterinary service — including the past 11 years here at Van Zandt Veterinary Hospital — we are excited and a little emotional to announce the retirement of Dr. Buck VanTrease.
Dr. VanTrease has been a valuable asset to our clinic and the Wills Point community. As the previous owner and a trusted veterinarian, his compassion, skill, and leadership have left a lasting impact on everyone he's worked with — pets and people alike.
His last full-time day will be Thursday, June 26th. We invite you to stop by the clinic between now and the 26th to wish him well, share a memory, or just say thank you.
Though he's stepping away from the daily grind, Buck won’t be too far — he’ll still be around to lend his expertise with orthopedic surgeries as needed.
Please join us in thanking Dr. VanTrease for his years of service and in wishing him all the best as he heads into this next chapter — flying into the sunset of retirement with our deepest gratitude. 🐾✈️☀️
Thank you, Buck. You’ll always be part of the VZVH family. 💙

It's that time of year!!! 🚨🚨🚨
Heatstroke in dogs is a life-threatening condition where the body's temperature rises to dangerously high levels. It's crucial to recognize the symptoms and take immediate action to cool the dog down. Remember dogs don’t tolerate high temperatures as well as humans, please be cautious.
