Beautiful sparkly whiskers ✨ But what are they for?
Whiskers have nerves at their base, so they provide sensory feedback to the horse. Horses explore things with their muzzle, and it’s a visual blind spot, so their whiskers are extra important here to give them information about objects, distance, textures and so on. They increase a horse’s awareness and sensitivity and help to protect delicate areas.
It’s great that the practice of whisker trimming is slowly being relegated to the past, with many countries and equestrian bodies no longer allowing whisker trimming on welfare grounds. 👏🏻

CHH will offer private stall boarding Feb 1st, 2022. Rates starting at $550/monthand up. 13x15 stalls. 100x250 covered/lit arena. Hot/cold wash bays.
We allow long-term care for retirement horses.
*No Cribbers allowed.
Staff lives on-site.
Basic board includes:
Feeding 2x daily, turnout w/ hay, stall cleaning. Extras can be discussed with additional fees.
