Today we officially welcome our newest member of the VPHT family Sheza Shining Bully!

Sunshine was a successful barrel horse under youth and senior riders earning over $6k LTE before a career ending injury. She joins us as our first official broodmare and has an exciting future producing the next generation!

She currently is in foal to Flingin Roses for an early 2027 baby!

We are so excited for her future and the future of VPHT bringing in some amazing horses into our program!

It’s that time of year we are experiencing side effects from the Canadian wild fires. Our prayers go to all of those affected and we hope they can all be put out as fast as possible!

With the smoke now making its way to the area we are currently experiencing high AQI numbers currently already over 250.

Because of this all lessons and riding are canceled until further notice. While we are thankful all of our horses haven’t been experiencing any issues keep an eye on your horses especially those with pre-existing breathing problems and older horses.

This is a great time to catch up on some activities indoors like cleaning tack!

Stay safe and send all the prayers to Canada, we cannot imagine what they are going through 🇨🇦

⚠️ AIR QUALITY ALERT UPDATE ⚠️

A multi-day air quality event is expected Thursday and Friday, potentially lingering into Saturday, due to thick wildfire smoke and extreme heat driving up ozone levels.

Here is what you need to know for the next few days:

THURSDAY: A wave of wildfire smoke is pushing into central Maryland, bringing Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) conditions along the I-95 corridor. The highest concentrations will be in northeast MD. High heat and aged smoke will also cause ozone levels to reach the High Moderate to USG range.

FRIDAY: A weak cold front will usher in a significant amount of smoke that will persist all day, trapped by weak winds. Statewide Unhealthy (Code Red) AQI is forecast for fine particulates (PM2.5).

SATURDAY: Precipitation chances increase, which should help mitigate ozone levels, bringing them down to the Good/Moderate threshold. However, uncertainties remain if rain will fully wash out the fine particles.

How to Protect Yourself:

✔️Limit or avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
✔️Keep doors and windows closed.
✔️Run your AC on the "recirculate" setting.
✔️Vulnerable groups (children, older adults, and those with respiratory/heart conditions) should take extra precautions.

While at the Independence Day Barrel Classic the NBHA member received awards from the 2025 season to include some of these amazing highlights!

We are honored that Boo was voted 2025 Horse of the Year by fellow members of the MD/DE NBHA. Boo is one of the backbones of our program and was one of the horses that helped us start our business. She has been apart of our lives since she was 2 and to have helped raise and be the sole trainers of her and to receive this amazing honor means a lot to us!

Wow it’s already been a week since the Independence Day Barrel Classic and what a brutal but successful weekend! With temps creeping to 120 it was not for the faint of heart but all our horses and riders showed up and delivered with every horse entered taking home a check!

Boo Who Lolli 🍭
Boo had 2 solid 3D runs to take home reserve in the average for the weekend!

Fire Breathin Dallas 🔥
Dallas and Ember had good runs finishing in the Open and Youth 4D both days and won the 4D Helmet sidepot on Sunday

Slim Shady 🎵
Moonshine and Bryan took home money Friday night in the pole bending finishing 3rd in the 4D. They had a solid 4D run Saturday and an unfortunate barrel Sunday

SRB Dodgin Bullets 🔫
Gauge had his first expo never seeing the pattern before just to get in the arena and he couldn’t care less. He was a superstar all weekend even getting compliments from fellow competitors at how well mannered he was through it all. We are so excited for his future!

It was a very long hot weekend for all but we’re proud of how everyone handled it all! Now we all take a breath and recoup from the heat and long weekend!

We’ve had a busy two weeks with back to back races but we’re going to rewind to Doswell 6/27. It was a great day with full trailers!

Brooke and Boo Who Lolli unfortunately had a barrel down as they continue to work through some minor changes.

Mike ran his own horse Rackateers Dandy Jet for fun and had a great run finishing in the 4D.

Bryan and Slim Shady had a great run finishing in the 4D and took home money 2nd in the Prime 4D.

Ember and Fire Breathin Dallas had a great run to finish in the Open and Youth 4D.

Allie and One Ride in Vegas had a great run with a bit of a sketchy end after she got popped from the saddle at the third and onto her neck infront of the horn. They finished solid though with all smiles and still had a great time.

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of a legend.

Indian Outlaw or “Dodge” as many knew him was the foundation of our program, passed away peacefully around 830 Friday morning in his favorite field in a place he brought us to and laid down to choose. He has been in Brooke’s life for over half of it and helped shape her to the trainer you know her as today. From a Wild Mustang to a 4x World Qualifier with many checks and buckles Dodge stamped every horse she brought along especially Boo and now Gauge.

We all are mourning the loss of his unexpected passing at the amazing age of 30. He was Brooke’s heart and soul and it will take some time for us all to find a new normal.

We’d like to wish our very own SRB Dodgin Bullets aka Gauge a very happy birthday as our youngest is now officially a 3 year old!

Son of Bar Frenchman (Frenchman’s Guy x Biankus) and Kailua Bay (Okey Dokey Dale x Marthas Six Moons) we continue to be excited for his promising future!
