DID YOU KNOW?

Your dog might not know it’s 🦈, but they definitely know when life changes around them.

Dogs can’t tell time or read a calendar, but they’re experts at recognizing patterns. They notice when the morning alarm starts going off again, the kids head back to school, or the house suddenly gets quieter.

That’s why changes in routine can lead to more barking, clinginess, restlessness, or extra excitement. They’re not being stubborn, they’re simply adjusting to a new normal.

Just like teaching a puppy to be a well-mannered “land shark,” the best way to help dogs navigate change is through consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and a little patience. Find a local Zoom Room Dog Training expert to help!

🦈 🐶🏝️Explore New Waters!

Every confident dog starts as a curious puppy.

Whether it’s walking on grass for the first time, hearing a skateboard roll by, or stepping onto a new surface, each positive experience helps build resilience. Keep introductions short, fun, and reward your puppy for choosing to investigate. Small wins today create confident companions tomorrow.

Just remember, confidence isn’t created by pushing puppies into scary situations, it’s built by giving them the freedom to explore with your support.

Shark Fact: Sharks rely on curiosity and their senses to safely explore new environments. Puppies learn best the same way, through positive experiences and exploration.

🦈🐶 Shark Week Tip #2: Catch Calm, Reward Big!

If your puppy feels like a tiny land shark, here’s one of the most powerful training tips you can use: don’t wait for perfect behavior, catch the calm moments.

💙 Reward calm and quiet the moment you see it.
✔️Mark it, then reward it with treats, praise, or gentle pets.
🏡 Set your puppy up for success by managing the environment and providing plenty of appropriate toys to chew.

Remember: Toys = YES. Hands & shoes = Redirect. Every time you reward the desired behavior, you’re helping your puppy learn what behaviors you want to see more of!

⭐️Good choices make great pups!🐶

🦈 Shark Fact: Unlike most fish, sharks don’t have bones—their skeletons are made entirely of cartilage, the same flexible tissue found in your nose and ears!

🦈🐶 It’s Shark Week at Zoom Room!

Cue the dramatic music… because puppy season and Shark Week have one thing in common: tiny teeth, endless energy, and lots of chomping! 😅

All week long, we’re sharing fun, memorable, and practical puppy training tips to help you survive (and thrive) with your favorite little “land shark”. Whether you’re navigating puppy nipping, building confidence, or teaching good manners, we’ve got you covered.

🦈 Shark Week Tip #1: Don’t Feed the Frenzy

When your puppy gets overly excited, jumping, barking, or turning into a tiny tornado, avoid rewarding the chaos. Instead, wait for a moment of calm, then reward that behavior with treats, praise, or play.

💡 Remember: Calm behavior earns the jackpot. Excitement doesn’t.

Follow along all week as we help turn your little shark into a well-mannered companion, one bite-sized tip at a time!

Our job as trainers is to remind you just how awesome your dog is. 🧡

Because sometimes, in the middle of teaching life skills, working through challenges, and navigating everyday life, we forget to celebrate the dog right in front of us.

The progress. The connection. The little wins. The fun.

Your dog is pretty amazing.

And sometimes, we all just need a trainer to remind us. 🐾

Why does your dog keep barking, jumping, or pulling on the leash?

Because those behaviors have worked.

If barking gets attention, jumping earns greetings, or pulling gets them where they want to go, your dog is likely to keep doing it. They’re not being “bad”—they’re repeating what has been successful.

The good news? The same principle works in your favor.

Reward the behaviors you want to see more of—like loose-leash walking, calm greetings, or checking in with you—and those behaviors become stronger over time.

Dogs repeat what works. Let’s make sure the right behaviors pay off. 🐾
