Originating in Wales over 1,000 years ago, Corgis—specifically the Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis—were bred as hardy herding dogs. Their low-to-the-ground build allowed them to nip at cattle heels and dart away safely, making them incredibly effective despite their small stature.

Legend even says Corgis were the favored mounts of fairies, with the markings on their backs believed to be “fairy saddles.” Myth or not, their clever minds, bold confidence, and hardworking nature made them invaluable on farms—and irresistible everywhere else.
