Do the best you can with what you have💕
This means if you aren’t able to take them on a walk (maybe you work 12 hour shifts or have little humans to care for), make it a point to go outside and throw the ball with them for just a few minutes a day.
Choose the highest quality food you’re able to feed them. This might mean doing a little research on what foods are higher quality and higher in nutrients (or ask someone more knowledgeable that you trust). For us this means feeding higher quality dog food along with produce scraps, eggs, raw beef liver/ heart/ bones etc.
We rarely hand out any treats, and usually don’t even have them in our home— this makes it easier not to become a human treat dispenser.
It also means we don’t feed as much, and we only feed once a day! This allows our dogs to stay at a healthy weight which is HUGE for their health.
Our lifestyle has a big impact— just like humans, if you exercise for an hour a day but then sit at a desk for 8-9 hours it will have little positive effect. Get up and move around frequently, take your pup for a little stroll around the yard, play a little game of tug, throw the ball, do a 5-10 minute training session.
Unfortunately we can’t change every aspect of our dog’s health because genetics also come into play. BUT we do everything we can to influence them for good.
If you struggle with any of these aspects we can help!! From determining if they are a healthy weight, to teaching them how to walk on a leash without pulling… we would be happy to help you and your pup get on the right track for a long, happy, and healthy life!🐕🐶
