We have reached the goal of being a “no kill community” in 2016 and have continued on that path every year since. We are committed to keeping that status every year from here out. A “No Kill Community” is an animal shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals even when the shelter is full, reserving euthanasia for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous to public safety. ring 2016, Caring Hands reached the goal with 90.42% and improved during 2017 to 93.1%. In 2018, we further increased that percentage to 95.66%! Behind those statistics are thousands of individual stories with happy endings because of your help! So many times when our resources were stretched to the limit, you came forward and brought food for the animals so they did not go hungry. You donated blankets so they were not cold. You gave them toys so they could have a little joy during their stay here. You saved their lives by providing foster homes until a kennel opened up or until they found their forever home. You sponsored their transport fees so they could go to rescues. You’ve supported us in our endeavors every time we have asked for your help. The companion animals here cannot speak, so on their behalf, we say thank you! The truth is, a shelter cannot achieve “no kill” status on its own. It takes a community. You've got a BINGO... in your future. Reserve your spot for the last Bitchy Bingo of the year! We're raising funds for our Lend a Paw community support fund that helps keep pets in their loving homes by providing needs so owners don't have to result to surrendering or rehoming.

Pack your bags we are going on a field trip! It's DAY 4 of our CLEAR THE SHELTER Event: Adventure Tail Day! 🚌🚦🐾

During our business hours (10:00am-4:30pm, closed for lunch 12:30-1:30pm) you can 'check out a dog' upon completion of our online orientation! Dogs will be chosen from our eligible Adventure Tail candidates. This program is perfect if you aren't sure about adoption yet and want to get to know a dog! Even just two hours away gives the dogs a break from the shelter stress and helps us learn about their behavior outside the shelter. Come take a dog on a field trip!

Come watch our adoptable dogs make a splash at the Halstead Swimming Pool from 6-8pm! Although we won't require an entry fee, donations are appreciated! For everyone's comfort, we kindly ask that all attendees NOT get in the water due to it becoming well....'dog friendly.' 🤣

We kicked off of our CLEAR THE SHELTER EVENT with Mutts on Main! Thank you to our volunteers and staff who spent the morning walking our adoptable dogs downtown. The dogs had the best time!

Welcome to the kickoff of our CLEAR THE SHELTER EVENT! 🎉🎊💝

Caring Hands Humane Society is excited to launch Clear the Shelter Week starting tomorrow the 9th through the 16th! 🚀 We are calling on the community to help "clear the shelter." 💸 Adoption fees will be waived for ALL ready-to-go pets, in efforts to find loving homes for EVERY cat and dog in our care!

Each day we will have an event 📅......

Saturday August 9th: Mutts on Main 🐾🚦 (TOMORROW!)
Monday August 11th: Read & Paint with a Pet 📖🎨🖌(2-4pm)

Our Mission, through the promotion of education in basic humane animal care, is to relieve animal suffering and to prevent cruelty to animals.
