Had GREAT news today at my 5 month followup which means I am that much closer to pet sitting again!
I've been in a walking boot about 12 weeks ish, still unable to drive and I've been getting less and less dependent on a crutch. At today's appointment, I took 3 steps! Josh had to help me but I did 3 steps without the boot! The doctor said I can start wearing a shoe and or walking barefoot around the house as much as I am able and if I'm not in pain, I can drive! Yay!! Yall, I haven't drove a car in 5 months! I do still have to wear the boot when I leave the house but he said hopefully, when I return to see him during the Thanksgiving break that he hopes I'll have two shoes on and am walking. BEST. NEWS. EVER!
Biggest issue right now is muscle atrophy in the whole right leg and foot but once I start building it back up, it will all get easier. I really owe Josh, Ry, Crystal ( my coworker) and my mom so many thank you's for allowing me to be the passenger princess for 5 months but yall are still stuck driving me around for a bit longer 😇😊
This surgery takes about a year total to heal. In the xray, if you look in the middle of the screws and right above the heel bone there is some white. Thats the donor bone and cement. When that is no longer white, then it's hardened and healed.
